Still finishing up my bard, and I just love what they did with them in stormblood. Haven't had as much fun with bard as I have now![]()
So i have been thinking how brd might proceed forward so here goes my ideas:
Army's Peon reworked now this was hard and i got 3 ideas for it they however all come with drawbacks so i'm indecisive about it
-change sks buff to crit buff and have it go up by 2% per stack, this would make Army's Peon more useful overall and you absolutely want to refresh dots during this making brd burst potentially stronger but its drawback is there is no point to procs once capped and EA may feel like a waste once capped as well
-get rid of sks buff allow procs to give straighter shot buff, this would keep procs relevant while helping to set up brd burst window better but this would just be a carbon copy of Mage's Ballad formula and may make it feel stale
-change sks buff to DH buff at 5% but every proc allows every party member in song distance to receive current stack buff for 5s, this would give even more group power to brd so it may make it hard to balance plus it may not align well with other party members buffs.
Enhanced Sidewinder
-if used with 2 DoTs up grants a proc
Set The Stage, cd 180s
-Gives 3 proc stacks in WM/AP(old or crit version) while in MB next Bloodletter hits 3 times or for AP(RA proc version) next RA is a crit + DH or for AP(DH buff version) extends next proc buff by 10s cannot be overwritten
Enhanced Nature's Minne
-Gives a 10% magic defense buff in WM, !0% physical defense buff in AP or 10% HP boost in MB, while still giving the healing potency buff
Enhanced Raging Strikes
-Doubles potency of next attack skill used + dmg buff remains active as normal
Finale, cd 150s
-1k potency ends current song other songs come off cds

If you give Bards anything that spreads DoT damage to other enemies, then most of their other stuff would need to be reworked because their damage output would skyrocket to probably top tier. Big pull and you spread to 7-12 enemies, and you'll proc pretty much Rain of Arrows / pitch perfect every tick almost (especially with materia, songs, battle voice etc). There was a reddit doc dump about Shadowbringers possibly merging MP and TP together, if they do Bards would need a huge makeover due to Foe Req.
I hope Bard gets a rework and has a bunch of songs added, bring back some nice little enemy enfeebles like they had in 11. It's not that I don't enjoy the class (been maining it since 2.2) I just get kinda bored with 3 songs and Foe Req. Aside from magic damage up all we have to enfeeble is something that benefits people with magic.
I'd have no problem if they kept all of our attacking skills the same but instead added like 6 songs that can cast slow, phys damage up, haste, mag damage up, etc. I feel like we've just become friends of mages as opposed to friends of everyone, ya feel me?
