Miqo'te Forever! But not restricted to...

Hey, I have been in love with the ol' kitty people as a player character since gender lock days of ffxi, however, did not turn to making one due to said gender lock and total misunderstanding of how mmorpgs worked I think it was a 'I'm male surely I can not be female' type scenario.

Oh how I have grown as a mmorpg player, however, that is possibly a story for another time.

There was a point I turned my character into Au Ra due to getting 'Of Dragons Deep' fishing title, truly do not ask me why. Totally disliked any of the free standing poses Au Ra gave and turned back to Miqo'te a little bit later.

Does anyone have any interesting stories or maybe not so interesting stories to share concerning their choice of race.

I changed to male Au ra to try it out for fun with a friend as we won some free fantasias. He went Xaela and I went Raen.

Well I surprisingly loved it and funnily, reading your post, I felt like Au ra are more close to real life me from expressions to stances, which I loved, not all but some of their emotes were more okay with me as well, many Miqo'te emotes are a bit too showy somehow.

It was an hard decision but in the end I went back to Miqo'te and the reason is Au ra felt too towering for me, I still love them and while miqo'te feel too short it's closer to the range I feel more comfortable with. Well I like many other things about miqo'tes too obviously.

I also changed to Au Ra with Heavensward. I just kinda liked the way they looked with the scales and the eyes, but in the end I missed my original character, her voice, her stances etc. I doubt I'll ever change race again, I'm just too happy with my character the way she is, I think I'll always miss her eventually if I change.

I was just clicking through the races upon character creation, just looking to see what options there were.

Then I came across my kitty and she was just too cute and I had to make her then and there!

A few minor tweaks later and she was born!

With the only changes made in the years since then being a couple of different haircuts :3

Oh the sheer amount of money Ive spent on fantasias. . . but here goes. (Fair warning this is my opinion, not meant to cause offense)
I have been every female race (and male miqote) atleast once. I'm female so it just feels natural to play a female. But I didnt mind male miq'ote.
I tried to like all the other races! Truly I did but currently I can only stand the animations of two races. Lala and Miqote.
Lalas are a bit short for my liking but I can stand them.
Au'Ra females normal run is too "rigid" in the shoulders for me, feels weird.
Elezen is too tall with their giraffe necks it makes them look weird when they move (most especially their run).
Hyur Midlander do the whole side to side arm flail which is just too girly imo, plus their voices annoy me for some reason.
Hyur Highlander are slightly too brutish looking with their idle stance. Makes me feel like Im about to punch a bish at any given moment...
Fem-Roe... a bit butch for me, and they feel too stalky in the shoulders and with the way they stand and their lack of butt just makes them feel clunky to me somehow...

Despite my misgivings Ive seen folks create some amazing looking characters out of the ones I disliked! But as for myself I just cant bring myself to like anything but Miqote right now.
They feel fluid in their animations and not butch or super girly. I got the same vibe from Viera but remains to be seen whether I will stay one. I do intend to switch to see if I like it (and yay they have butts...)

My main is a Male highlander. I wanted to have a mature look 35-45ish I pretty much like everything about that race so he has never been changed and if you do the right shadowing on the face you barely notice the lack of eyebrows. I really dig the Highlander lore and look, somewhere between vikings and the ottomans

Nyvara here is a different story She's been both sun and moon miqo'te. Moon being my fave of the two I love the teeth! A Human, but I could never quite get the look I wanted for her (Erza Scarlet-ish) I could only ever get cute after several fantasias. Finlay landed on elezen The run took some getting used to. I don't mind the proportions that folks seem to dislike, and I they have a broad variety of facial options from cute to sinister and look damn sexy as LNC DRK or PLD. But to be honest I been thinking of changing her again maybe fem highlander.

I always play regular humans in mmos, but I did come into the game wanting to try something different and heavily leaned towards a Raen female. I am actually still a bit surprised myself that I didn't go Au Ra because I really love their look, emotes, and idle stances. It was the tail though and that they are still pretty short in stature even at max height.

After choosing Midlander, I was still a bit unsatisfied with my height after several weeks of playtime and I used my free fantasia to try out Highlander. I immediately bought another fantasia and changed back. I got the height I wanted but there was a bit of softness and femininity that I felt was lost from the transition, but those might just be excuses and I actually just already became attached to my Midlander.
