Returning player,need advice.

Hello all,i'm returning to this game after more then a year of taking a break. kinda quited cause i had less and less time to play so i pretty much thought that will put me behind everyone in gear wise content clearing etc.

Just wondering now since new expansion is coming in few months,is it worth even trying to go for a new gear considering it will all be replaced soon probably? i understand that i would clear new content a lot easier with new gear,but would crafted gear suffice?

I think that if you got the i380 crafted gear and augmented it to i390, you’d be fine. That being said, Genesis cap was raised to 900 a week, and we have about 5~6 weeks before the expansion hits. So you could probably get a full set of i390 gear augmented to i400 before the expansion drops, and this gear will last a bit longer than just the i390 augmented crafted. For HW, i130 Augmented Poetics lasted until roughly The Aery (level 55); for SB, i270 Augmented Scripture lasted until Bardam’s Mettle (level 65). We can assume that i400 will last probably until level 74/75, where as i390 would probably be replaced around level 73.

I’d say it’s worth the effort to get a set for your main job you’ll be taking through ShB’s MSQ if you have the time to dedicate to it.

Crafted gear is enough, you could get the augmented weapon with tomes and you're ready to do almost everything

Crafted gear would be fine. Pretty much i370+ will get your foot in the door for the expac. Then - as happened last 2 expacs so I assume will happen this one too - quests will rain HQ gear on you so even if your luck with dungeon drops is bad, you'll be able to fill in from that.
