So the offline version of the Lodestone is up and I took a look at previous maint times (which goes up to about January).
Almost all of the earlier maint times coincide with an actual 4.XX patch AND/OR involve infranstructure maint, which is almost certainly more time consuming then usual. That said some of them were also completed earlier than they were expecting, though its always been known the time frame in many cases is to ensure they have enough time to complete them if anything snags during the maint.

My question is why must a thread always pop up every time they have maintenance?
While sure i was only able to play less then a hr, i went and played other games..
I remember when maintinence was in EU prime time for FFXI.....
This is revenge from the EU!!!!![]()

*Laughs in EU* All perfect over here.

They schedule maintenance periods so that the least amount of people will be affected...most of the time. Sometimes something just needs fixing right away though. Either way I don't see why people need to complain about it. They don't take the servers down very often. One night of not being able to play every few weeks isn't really a big deal.

In order of descending importance I assume?
I approve![]()

Squeenix doesnt update the same way American companies do, where they have a team of people in the office at 2 or 3 AM PST on patch days to impact the fewest people possible. (Having to edit patch notes at 4 am because central time lolol was always "fun"). They also dont do region-specific updates for everything except major content releases.
They're like "Its several hours into the normal work day? Sounds like a good time to start"

And if they did updates at 3 am PST it would be 7 pm in Japan, IE making the situation the exact opposite of what we have here. Someone is going to have to deal with a patch/maint happening at a time they would usually play, even if they managed to do it at a time when the fewest amount would be on across the world. Not really much of a point getting so worked up about it every 6 months.Squeenix doesnt update the same way American companies do, where they have a team of people in the office at 2 or 3 AM PST on patch days to impact the fewest people possible.
