I'm an American. We call our country America. I'm from America. (not all that proud about it, evidenced by the fact I'm an expat in Japan, but that's besides the point).

What you and the other poster are referring to is "the Americas". That refers to the entirety of North and South America. No one from Canada, Mexico, or South America refers to themselves as an American or being from America. At the very best (for your position), they will say "I'm from the Americas". But most times they'll just say their country, North America, or South America.

Also of note in terms of 'America', many English speaking countries outside the US will refer the USA as simply, "The States" - another catch all term that doesn't necessarily have to apply to just the US, but does anyway. Those of us here in the south just tend to say, "Im 'murican! Wooo!!"

It's also gradually getting earlier and earlier. It used to be about 10pm or 11pm PST, giving players in PST through EST at least a bit of time to log in and play. Now it's all the way back to 6pm PST. I got about an hour after getting home and settled from work in EST, and I imagine most in PST weren't even home/off work yet.

It'll go back to normal times. They always start earlier when they do infrastructure maintenance. Its happened many times in the past. It gives them longer during their workday to fix actual server issues if anything happens, as well as perform actual server upgrades/maintenance unrelated to the game servers software.

I'll have to check when the Lodestone is available again, but I believe this has been around the normal time for a while now. It doesn't seem to be just infrastructure, but the new regular time. It's been creeping back gradually, but steadily.

I don't know why they don't stagger it, since this is a globally-serviced game. It may mean that work is done in off hours, but as a software engineer and a systems admin I can attest that sometimes that's just part of the job when you service globally.

they don't want one region to have an advantage over the other. because the game is global, any changes affects everyone. everyone must remain equal.
