bots in mmo's/any mmo is a thing. you can't get away from them. why do they exist? because ....

the developers don't take aggressive enough actions to eliminate them and discourage players from using their services. RMTs and players don't account for 100% of the blame. Exact shares are up for discussion, but after this much time, it's pretty reasonable to assume the developers are the only ones with the power to actually squash it, and they don't.

This game doesn't have GM's. If they do it's only a couple. For a game that makes 2.5 Billion dollars anually just in subscriptions it's reprehenceable. I muself had a few large purchases that didn't get delivered. Called 3 separate times over the course of 1.5 weeks. Opened tickets. I have yet to receive an actual reply from a GM. Per Square Enix's phone support "There is a high number of harassment complaints with the Free to Play period, and the GM's cannot handle the influx of tickets.". In regards to RMT/Gil sellers I wholeheartedly believe that Square Enix is profiting from them. I cannot think of another reason Square Enix would allow these spammers to openly continue to promote RMT. It's been this way since the game has launched. Personally I just ignore or move to blacklist.

Where is that number from? Their reported profits.. for SE? Cause.. they make a few different games.

been stuck in uldah on ultros for a couple of hours been noticing a gilseller spaming every 10 minutes. Reported it every time, nice to know that the report RMT is fake

I remember once I made an alt to play around with for a bit on a smaller server. I'm used to larger servers which are often locked, and so the RMT presence is low.

Well, I did the right click -> report RMT thing... but day after day he was still there. Even with the reporting feature it takes SE quite a while to get rid of the spammers.

On top of that, SE doesn't put out the names or punishments given. They don't want people just shaming others. Discipline is in SE's hands.

But how long does it take to see that a character is sending out many thousands of spam messages every day with links to a gil selling site?

Well, this is SE so it takes weeks apparently. But you know. The evidence isn't exactly difficult to dig up.

So what you are saying is SE, and GMs do not actually ban the accounts belonging to RMT accounts. because if that was the case they would be raking in billions in cash in sales alone. I mean on the launcher there is always a report that states banned X000's accounts. and it stands to reason each one of those was a purchased account, so as they said in Aliens "Whos laying these eggs" have RMT figured out how to generate keys?

Stolen credit cards, fraud. That's why SE bans them, because the cardholders find the charges and do charge backs

You see, everyone is innocent until proven guilty by SE. You cannot name-and-shame an innocent player, damning evidence regardless.

Also I doubt RMTs are generating keys, they're more likely just somehow making more money than the cost of the base game. Which is surprising for me because gil is so useless.

Not to mention i only really came back to this post because i think i may have found a farming hive FC filled with bots i was planning on listing everyone of them but its clear SE is too busy counting their cash to ACTUALLY do anything about people openly violating their terms of service.
