    My friend bought the NA version of the game, not the EU one

    I got my friend interested in the game, and so I invited him via "recruit a friend" into the game, he bought the game on May the 2nd, as there was a sale, 50% off, however he only started attempting to get into the game today, as he wanted to get the max level 35 on his free trial first. Sadly, it does not work, as he gets the message:

    The code's region is inapplicable.
    You can only enter codes from the same region as your Square Enix account.


    We both have EU accounts, and it seems like the sale was NA only....

    The code is redeemed, so it doesn't seem like he can get a refund. I'm at a loss. What can we do now? What are our options?

    Would he have to create a whole different account, one for NA?

    I mean... if he'll be playing on the American Data Center and version of the game, would my "Recruit a Friend" even work? Would my code be applicable?

    If he created a NA Square Enix account, and would just start over there, could we still be friends and use "Recruit a Friend"?

    Unfortunately his options are:

    A) Buy the EU version of the game and write off the cost of having already bought the NA version.
    B) Create a new NA account, start over and play with the NA game he bought.

    However, I do not recommend creating an NA account if you live in the EU. This also means every expansion he buys will also need to be the NA version and he'll also be paying his subscription fee in Dollars.

    Sadly the best thing he can really do is just buy the game again

    I'll talk it over with my friend, but we'll probably make a new account then.

    Sorry for repeating, but please do consider that carefully. Getting hold of future NA expansions might be hard, especially as Square Enix themselves won't even sell outside of NA. Starting off in the wrong region could cause him a ton of problems later on.

    Try to pusher a refund first, it's normally at least 14 days iirc
