Maintenance Times

I know this subject has been posted before but I feel like I must ask once again. Why does SE keep planning maintenance times during prime play time for most of the US? I understand alternating the times so it's not always during prime time for everyone, but the last 3-4 or more major patches have ALL fallen from 6pm PST to the following morning. Why don't they alternate patch times so US servers are not always down right after most of us get home from work?? why can't they alternate it??

If it's not broke don't fix it. They don't need to or desire to.

They do maintenance on all servers at the same time. The devs need to be available during maintenance in case things break critically and need to be fixed. The devs are in Japan, so maintenance is going to happen during JP work hours.

Probably because SE is located in Japan and 6PM in PST is 10AM in JST

It's been this way since ARR, so it's not changing any time soon.

Different timezones & The USA =/= The World

They do it to spite you in particular, obviously.

Use your noggin, they're based in Japan.

They picked a time which falls within Japanese work hours that was also the quietest for the majority of players.

6pm PST = 10am JST = 2am GMT/3am CEST

It sucks, but that's how it rolls. What happens to be US Prime Time happens to be the middle of the day in Japan and early morning in Europe.

Basically, 2 regions are quiet at that time and one is not. The alternative would be the other way around, where 2 regions are in prime time so that the maintenance is done during US quiet time...

It's just something you'll need to put up with, given that it is a Japan based company with a large portion of the playerbase being in Japan. Just like I as a UK resident, have to put up with basically every other company being US based and so they do their maintenances during EU prime time.

That's just Time Zones for you.
