Since they released Au ra with arms and head pieces 100%, and now are telling us that they are doing the new race head in their spare time, I find it difficult to believe. Aren't they doing the basic for all the released races?
They could have made the same argument about au ra, "Au ra will come without head pieces because of their horns, but dev team is doing the head pieces in their spare time". What's the difference? Little.

It's easy enough to just tell, untill I see the headgear and think for myself "woah, this piece must have been difficult to adapt".

I guess the question becomes then.. where's the limit? How far are they allowed to go with the "it's easier to not do something than actually do something" mentality before people are allowed to criticize them?

To say they're doing nothing because it's easier is non-applicable to this situation.

The ability to display headgear isn't an optional feature within the other races. It is part of the core gear display capability of all other player races. So no, this is not a "this couch doesn't have cushions", it is comparable to a piece missing because it is part of the capabilities of every other player race.

Headwear does not have to be visible on existing characters. Therefore it is optional.

Viera and Hrothgar are losing that option, but it's not a core element of the character design.

A chair with a missing leg (or roughly replaced leg) is clearly incomplete - anyone can see that as soon as they look at it. It's missing something that it needs for its basic function, and to visually look finished.

The character model is equatable to the chair. It has all its limbs and animations, and isn't restricted from doing anything in the game - including actually equipping the gear that isn't modeled for them yet. There is nothing visibly wrong with their appearance.

The chair might look nicer or be more comfortable with a cushion on it, but there is nothing wrong with the chair itself. Many people will choose to use it without a cushion at all, because they think it looks good anyway, and might not have wanted to put cushions on it in the first place.

I've said in other discussions, I think people have misinterpreted what was said at Fanfest. The characters have unique heads with new options that aren't available to other races, but the devs never actually said they will have more choices than other races.

It's like Au Ra's limbal rings (glowing eyes). It's new and unique, no other race has it.... but they get it instead of the racial tattoos most other characters have.

The option is new, but the number of options remains consistent.

Obviously that bit of embellishment flew way over your head, so let's clear this up. Yoshi's on a board, A BOARD, which means multiple parties involved. FFXIV is a cashcow because it's a cashcow that they've thus far been able to minimize feeding funding into. Are subs holding and/or growing? People still actively playing and providing feedback? Cash shop still providing profit? Why should they feel the need to feed more than absolutely necessary into the FFXIV team if they're getting the job done? Because the return will be bigger? If it were substantial enough they'd have obviously done it already. We wouldn't have an issue where they don't have the time and power to only provide half of two new races, whom initially weren't even going to have most headgear visible. You think Yoshi hasn't pushed for his team to grow? For him to get people with actual experience on board and able to actually keep them? He's detailed before production time grows to a halt because they're constantly being fed only new people who have to be trained over and over, and that his team, like any typical dev team, gets drained to fuel whatever current big production is happening. Good luck feeding your sense of ethics into every other person on that board to make a difference. Another glass of Wine for Yoshi.

Could you think of another service or item you would purchase if the store or salesman told you "It's not actually finished, because that would've been too hard; but we worked on our own time to get something done." and still insisted on charging you full price for the item? Would your own employer let you get away with that? Would you let your own employees get away with that?

Your analogy is wrong here.

What actually is happening is this. You go to a salesman to purchase a service/item etc. And the salesman tells you "Here's the item you want with all the core features included. But wait, there's more! There's this new side feature that we've been developing that is still not yet finished that comes with it".

Would you buy this service/item now?? Or would you reject it since a side feature is not complete so now it's completely ruined for you?
