people dont set their status to seeking party cos the people making parties dont bother searching to see if anyone is looking for party. there are a few exceptions of course but i think i'm fairly accurate. along with the generic that alot of people dont even know how to use it properly.
what i personally miss is the lfp icon nextt o your name and the text commands which you could easily macro. i could log in hit a macro and that's it job done wait for invite. /sc 75rdm/nin/sam limit points can i have it. /scu /inv done.
at present i tend to find the only time people use search is if there already in natalan and one member drops party and even then it usually comes after people cycle there linkshells asking if anyone wants to fill the spot. the search itself has kind of become the last resort it seems.
hopefully they'll improve it. make it less clunky to use make it work and make it easier to search. like someone above said /sea all 40-50 inv would be so quick and easy in comparison to the existing system.
i think really this is a big part of why everyone sits in ul'dah if you're anywhere else then you're highly likely to miss the party entirely where if people used search it would matter where you were. that and the way the current market system works. if the wards was a centralised system it wouldnt matter if your retainer was in limsa grid or uldah but at present the only real chance you have to sell anything is to sell it in ul'dah. which is why everyone stays there. probably count the number of retainers in limsa or grid on one hand.
which in turn is also why it seems 9/10 people are in the immortal flames. be interesting to see if the gc membership evens out if they ever let people change with ishgard and 2.0 as imo ishgard will become the new aht ungan / jeuno centralised place for events.
but yeah i think the current trends that make everyone sit in ulda'h are a huge part of why the search doesn't get used as much as it could. if you step out of ul'dah then you're almost certain to miss out on that forming party. and because everyone's in uldah it's easier to just shout. if people were more spread out the n the search would be more comonly used i think. but again there's no benefit from being anywhere else at present
