They could do one zone per patch as to not feel the need to completely redo ARR in one big go. I would be fine with a slow and steady progress.

I'd just like higher resolution textures and new shaders. Unfortunately, the longer they delay things like this, the worse the workload and community unrest is going to be.
NO SHADERS FOR YOU!
Jokes aside it was 10 years before WoW revamped the PC models. Since FFXIV is only like 5 years old, I doubt we will see any kind of texture revamp anytime soon. On a personal level I don't think the textures are all that bad, They are better than a lot of MMOs that have come out.

As far as I can tell, this is the most graphically demanding mmo there is. I mean the game is stunning visually. Soooooo I'm a little bit confused. At least SE hasn't pulled a blizzard and left their tech in the past just so people on potatoes can play their game too.
Black Desert, Moonlight Blade, Archage, and a ton of others both old and new would like to say something about that.
FFXIV has good art design (mostly; there's a handful of exceptions where the transition from concept art to 3D model didn't turn out quite right imo), but on a technical level, it was dated at release, let alone now. While I don't expect a full-on rework, simple things like textures, shaders, and mesh updates for character models (especially our feet) would go a long way in future-proofing the game.
agreed. FFXIV still looks good, dont get me wrong, but their are newer technologies that it could benefit from as well.Black Desert, Moonlight Blade, Archage, and a ton of others both old and new would like to say something about that.

Perhaps a little adventuring out-of-game can help with that. The character creation of BDO alone runs circles around this.
That's not to say I find XIV unpleasant, it's just not even in the running for most graphically demanding.
Visually stunning is pushing it way too far. Dragon Raja built on un4 for mobile looks 10x better than ff14. ff14 artstyle is great but the textures, clunky movement when walking and turning and etc is holding it back. Blade and soul is moving to unreal engine 4 this year and bdo just got a remaster. Also moonlight blade is drop dead gorgeous. Back in 2013 your statement would have held up but ff14 is not leading the visually stunning department anymore. Still a pretty game in certain aspects to be sure.
Some peoples PC are more crappy than a ps4. So like...always blaming ps4 is pretty stupid, lots of people seem to think everybody is running this game on a high-end pc when I think it was said most people run on a med to low end pc.
But yoshi said there is no plans to upgrade the graphics, I can't remember where I saw it but he thinks ff14 already looks good and with the PS5 they'll just give them some of the options PC has.
And I agree, coming from a non graphics whore, the game already looks nice tbh. I personally don't see a reason to upgrade the graphics when you look at other MMO's that look horrible.
People can play FFXIV on potatoes with onboard intel graphics. All they need to do is turn all of the settings to minimum and set the processor priority for the game to Above Normal. Obviously this means low FPS and difficulty processing large numbers of objects and effects. Resources that would normally go to processing network traffic go to processing the game's graphics. All of these things are not hugely noticable in normal versions of content.
People can play the game on a potato if they really can't get something better assembled for a while, such as due to their gaming machine busting, but it's risky to do high-end content on one due to the latency it adds, the low FPS and the low resolution that will make seeing some mechanics in Stormblood more difficult.
The point here being that people can play this game on potatoes from earlier this decade despite how visually stunning it is, and get away with it in most content. Don't underestimate just how much the ability to turn down settings allows people with old machines to play; SE have the old machine players covered. They obviously don't make content to consider their potato machines though, and it wouldn't make sense to since most people you meet have a great PC, a good PC or a PS4.
