    Dx11 crashing continuously

    I've seen this issue reported a lot and I know I've reported it in game, but I'm making an official ticket to add my incidents to the growing list of DirectX11 failure reports.

    So back in early March, March 6th to be exact, I had just finished getting the parts for a new pc build and set it up specifically for FFXIV. The crashes started immediately, without warning, and at random times. Sometimes the game would crash without any error codes and go straight to the desktop. Sometimes the game would crash with a single "A fatal DirectX error has occurred" line of text.
    More frequently it's a list of dx11, kernel32, and ntdl error codes such as this one:

    Things I have tried include (not necessarily in this order):
    Uninstalling the game and reinstalling
    Virus scans
    Defragmenting
    Wiping the system and reinstalling windows
    Changing core clock speeds
    DirectX9 (same error messages but with dx9 instead of dx11 in the list)
    Installing the game from Square
    Installing the game through Steam
    Turning off overlays
    Turning off startup programs
    Running the game in compatibility mode
    Running the game in Administrator mode
    Creating a new account on my pc and running the game there

    And I'm sure anything else that has been recommended online I've tried but I probably forgot to list during the past 2 months of this constant headache. I had many more screenshots of the incidents but be thankful the windows reinstallation kind of deleted them, but the last I checked I had more than 30.

    As far as hardware is concerned everything in the initial build of the pc was brand new except the graphics card but even that got replaced over a month ago as one of our attempts to find a solution to the problem. We were using my old Radeon RX480 and upgraded it to an Nvidia GeForce GTX1070, but the errors persisted.

    She included the screenshots in her post. This is the exact error message taken from her screenshot:
    A fatal DirectX 11 error has occured. (11000002)
    There's no other error message or report.

    I am having the same issue and with shadowbringers dropping DX9 support I am very tempted to ask for a refund soon. I contacted the support to ask for a solution to this problem via email but they didn't give me any recommendation yet.
    I have also tried most of the steps above and from different topics or even reddit to fix the problem as she mentioned and I can also say that nothing of it fixed my issue:

    Creating a new account on my pc and running the game there
    Uninstalling the game and reinstalling
    clean install of all drivers, also updated them to the newest version which released just 2d ago and promised compatibility with the new win10 update... but didn't help after all.
    Virus scans
    Cleaning and fixing up my registry with 3rd party software
    Undercloacking my GPU
    Swapping HDMI cable and opening my PC to remove dust just to be sure it's not hardware related
    Turning off overlays
    Uninstalling Dropbox
    Turning off startup programs
    Running the game in compatibility mode
    Running the game in Administrator mode
    Checked my PC temperature, checked GPU workload
    Ensured that dxdiag shows no error message
    Ensured my GPU shows no error message

    As for reference if I am playing the benchmark, I have a probability of crashing 9/10 times, if it randomly runs to the end it tells me my PC score is extremely high.

    As of in the normal game, the crash happens at a random times doing random things.
    I can crash in an empty city, in a crowded place, in a 4man dungeon but then against all odds I can just 24man raids just fine. So it seems to be unrelated to "doing specific things ingame"
    I can run the game fine for hours but then suddenly crash 3 times in a row.

    As an observation aside from the game:
    - I feel like it's been crashing less before win10 forced their stupid new update onto me (but still its been occasionally crashing before as well.)
    - My screen looses its signal whenever the crash happens, so maybe that helps identify the issue?

    I don't know why you have to drop DX9 for something that instable. Especially while there's many known issues among players.
    During my research on how to fix my issue Ive come across soooo so many people who have the same issue and nothing has been completely fixed.
    Are we just all supposed to quit the game?

    I feel you, Im thinking to refund too Shadowbringers. Its too sad that this as Im reading its been for years yet no solution. I as you I did everything but cant force myself to play Dx9 when they are ending the support of it soon too. Does Yoshi knows of this?

    Hey me too! Canceling pre-order if not fixed. Same issue just hit me last night. Updated system, clean installs.... no dice. Ran for months without a single crash or error prior. Nothing in my system has changed.

    I've been running better the past few days. I'm still too worried to call it a definite fix and I can't tell which of my recent experiments worked, but could you try those for me and tell me if they help any?
    That is, if you also have win10 and nividia working (or in that case not working) together. They really seem to hate dx11. I'm not qualified for tech support, but I did contact IT for my issue, and it seems to be a display driver issue.
    So what I tried last was:

    1) Uninstalling nvidia gefore experience: I was reading in a Path-of-Fire dx11 topic that even when you close the programm, it still messes with win10

    2) Disable Vsync (this is what I expect helps dx11 the most) and select Maximum Performance in Nvidia Control Panel
    Right-click on the desktop area then click NVIDIA Control Panel.
    Now click on Manage 3D settings.
    Set Power Settings to Maximum Performance and turn off Vertical Sync. (ff doesn't let you disable vsync, that's why I did it via my nvidia panel.)
    Click Apply to save changes.
    Right click battery icon on the system tray and select Power Options.
    In the Power Options window select High Performance under Choose or customize a power plan.
    Reboot your PC to save changes.

    3) Change Power Management Setting (that's what I found when I looked for display driver fixes instead of dx fixes)
    Go to Control Panel.
    View by “Small icons” in Control Panel and click Power Options.
    Change plans to High Performance. After opening Power Options window, if you do not see High Performance option, expand “Show additional plans”, then you will see it there.
    After that, click Change plan settings.
    Click Change advanced power settings.
    Expand PCI Express then Link State Power Management. Make sure the setting is Off.
    Right-click on PC desktop and click NVIDIA Control Panel.
    Click Manage 3D settings in right pane. In left pane at “Global Settings” tab, select “Power management mode” to Prefer maximum performance.
    Then click Apply button to make the change take effect.
    If the problem occurs while you are playing games, please also:
    Right click the the game icon and select Properties. Select the “Compatibility” tab and check the box for “Disable Desktop Composition” and click OK button. (<- I couldnt find this for the steam version, but I copied it just in case.)
