Haha, very funny. Oh i've never heard such an original joke before. Truly you are a paragon of hilarity!
Seriously though. I'm 4'11 irl and will be 23 this year. I HATE when people treat me like i'm a child. Size doesn't automatically correlate to age.
Idk when Lala's don't have their clothes on and you see their proportions they kinda look like babies not "dwarves" as some people are putting it.
They definitely have some child like features.
I'm stating moreso that's as far as XIV will go with an outfit like that for a child character and I'd like to have it be kept at that. Any more and that's absolutely playing into "that" crowd.
I think lalafell are more like Gnomes, or something. Like in Pathfinder. They can look young, but they can look pretty old and mischievous too (mostly males).
Western dwarves are generally bulky, and gruff.
My two gil on the matter (apologies if I'm repeating anyone, but I'm not going through 13 pages to find out):
1. the argument that they don't want people to "lewd up" the kids is kinda ridiculous when you factor Lalafells into the equation. True, they're TECHNICALLY adults, but they look like toddlers, and you see Lala players using the Shisui/Thavnairian/etc. outfits all the time; to me, if you're going to argue that putting teen characters is sexual poses is bad, the already-available option to do so with Lalafells is worse.
2. while I can't speak for everyone, my own reasons for wanting to play a teenage character are very specific. On one hand, I grew up with a lot of shonen/shouji anime, so I generally associate "adventurer just starting their journey" with someone in their mid-teens, especially in a medieval/steampunk society. On the other, I'm generally a huge fan of elf-style races, but I hate the Elezen's overall proportions...except for Alisaie and Alphinaud, who seem exempt from the "adult" Elezen's problems as I see them. Had I been given the option to make a teenage Elezen with proportions more in line with those two characters, I likely would've made my character an Elezen right from the get-go and never looked back.
Were we born to fight and die? Sacrificed for one huge lie?
Are we heroes keeping peace?
Or are we weapons?
Pointed at the enemy so someone else can claim a victory?

[Edited] - Also I don't think anyone is talking about "teens". People very deliberately asked for children as playable. I.e. around Khloe's age. I'm sure modders have already found a way around this for people who really want that, but Square cannot and will not risk their game for a selfish request like that.

The problem here is that you're comparing them to fantasy dwarves and not real people of that size. When people say they are "dwarves" they mean they're short. That's all.

Making kids playable also kinda just... makes a threat appear less threatening, or makes the adults (who likely have lore on being an experienced fighter and such, like Rauhbahn for example) look (even more) incompetent. That's my new addition to things on why kids shouldn't be playable.
I've given my reasons why in various threads asking for them to be playable in some shape or form. RP reasons aside, there's also the whole immersion/lore stuff as well. I find it hard to believe that a child, even with the Echo and Blessing, can handle the nonsense our character goes through (even Fordola questions how we deal with this). Abduction, betrayal, loss, drugged and almost being killed several times in cutscenes. Then there's also how unrealistic/stupid it is to see a child becoming a Captain of a Grand Company and being a master of multiple Jobs.
I'm pretty sure I addressed this already--you even quoted it. The point is, they LOOK like toddlers, and the same people who are likely to complain about putting ACTUAL kids in these scenarios are equally likely to complain about Lalas in those scenarios because of their childlike appearance. And in my mind, putting a teenager in fanservice gear/poses isn't as bad as putting someone who looks like a five-year-old in the same gear/poses. Neither is something I'd advocate, but one is still worse than the other as far as I'm concerned.

Can't forget that in some part of the story the WoL is flirted with and comes across a lot of innuendoes. Women being threatened to be sexually assaulted and some that even are - Satasha anyone? I'm sure it's fine and dandy to have a teen race be told they can come watch a miqote chick bathe, be told to have some fun with prostitutes - given advice not to go chum up with two who gave a poor lad 'crotch rot - and in the Japanese versions have a certain elf ask them to warm up in his bedroom - while also checking out their physique. /sarcasm. It's weird enough with the potatoes, don't make it even weirder.
