No I have seen some threads here asking to be able to play characters who are clearly young teenagers or even younger. Chances are it happens in the other language forums as well.

I don't ever see SE doing this. They would have to increase the age rating because let's face it; the WoL is constantly killing people, not just unintelligent monsters. Sure these people are the bad guys but anyone who knows about the Garlean Empire knows a lot of their soldiers are also victims of their conquest. The WoL has definitely killed a lot of people who would rather be doing anything but fight under the Garlean banner. Then there's the fact that you find out that one of the scions is the product of rape. You meet more nps who allude to this sort of thing going on. It's just messed up to have a child be leading the charge in a story like this.

Don't get me wrong, it could make for a very interesting story especially if the msq changed a bit if you played a child. But the age rating would have to go up to reflect the wrongness and the tragedy of a child shouldering so much burden and having to mature far beyond their years to deal with it.

Never mind how SE had to crack down on some very inappropriate rp involving lalafells. It would only get worse if players could actually look like real children.

Also a lot of gear would have to be reworked for them. I don't think SE want children running around in bikinis or sexy bunny outfits.

Yeah, but I think the reason the Lalafell don't fulfill that particular character fantasy is because of how pear-shaped they are.

I used to be one, I switched because (and I'll freely admit this is silly) a lot of my glamour just plain didn't work on a Lalafell model.

I think they misunderstood what the actual request was. It was a greater option of "cuter" males to choose from, since Lalafell and to a degree male Miqo'te are the only real options. Basically, a reverse sexual dimorphism from Au ra.

Ah, that makes more sense, though they also mentioned girls as well. It's also probably harder to make males cuter without also making them look younger, maybe.

i switched because i wanted to be young link and just couldnt get lala tall enough. tried to make sora and the other models look like old men

Which given the drama recently within the mod community that got exposed over on tumblr thank god he put his foot down on this. I'm glad FF14 isn't willing to cross that line.

I actually don't. It is nice to know that we'll be having headgear available for the new races, and I can only be thankful for their sacrifice.

But this was, indeed, a sacrifice. People using many extra hours from their free time, who knows if even paid, to please a bunch of players who have been calling them lazy in the most entitled ways (and from what I see, are STILL questioning the devs even now).

I don't think the community deserves this team.

That's why I think the asset team deserves a lot more praise than they're honestly being given. They're in the middle of crunch time for the new expansion and took it upon themselves to not only rectify an issue Yoshi-P had clarified as hard to get around before, but did it all secretly while working on their normal projects. Between the issues with crunch culture and the horrendous work hours many Japanese workers usually have to deal with on top of that I wonder if they even had time to get more than a few hours of sleep.

Between this gesture /and/ the panel at the Japanese fanfest where the asset team was excitedly showing their world building process we sincerely don't deserve them. And I hope they all got commended in real life with a raise or at least some paid time off to be cashed in once the expac goes live.
