90k Disconnections when zoning into duties or HoH new floors

    Hello,

I seem to be experiencing a lot of 90k disconnects while is making me lose a lot of progress in Heaven on High, I've lost 2 solo saves now from 90ks and even floor 100 loot from a party DC issue, since it classes a 90k as a fail (which is high annoying) I was wondering if there was some assistance anyone could offer me? It seems to be whenever I transition to a new area mostly but it can also be random too, I've just noticed that's where the majority of the problem is.

I've upgraded my laptop a while ago, my router and my internet, I've tried wireless and ethernet for it and I only seem to have these random 90ks from this game, everything else is fine... I keep a lot of background tasks to the very minimum to try to prevent this but to no avail, everything is up to date as far as I know on my laptop, any help or advice would be appreciated!

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this start happening? Do you recall anything updating/changing on your PC that coincides with this?

Do you experience any other connection related problems (lag, latency, etc.)? Do these disconnections happen in any other locations?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hello, thank you for the reply I appreciate it!

I noticed I started to have a lot of 90k errors when Rival Wings was introduced, I'd have them mainly when I leave the duty (Same for Frontlines PVP) it would almost always be a few seconds after I zone to the previous area, EG the Goblet or Lavender Beds. I have tried sitting in other zones to see if it was related to the housing areas but I still got the issue. I have the same issue if I teleport too, I'll DC on the loading screen. The disconnects are very quick, almost instant. I had lost saves in HoH when exiting on the score screen and when I enter the teleporting circle while it's loading me to the next floor.
I've only decided to report it now because in HoH I lose a lot of progress and before it was tolerable. Between all of this not much has changed with my hardware or software, I usually keep things quite updated too.

As for lagging issues I barely have any that is noticable, it's mainly the instant connection drops that are the problem, I'm not sure how helpful this is but I hope it can give some insight on the issue, a few friends of mine have 90ks too but not this bad and it seems to be under different circumstances. :-(

Thank you for the reply Ozglacius.

It sounds like the connection gets dropped only for a moment when you are transitioning between zones. The connection itself seems stable otherwise despite these occasional drops.

There are a few things I can suggest to strengthen your home network:

    1) Reset your router by turning it off for a few minutes, then back on.

    2) Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.

    3) Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

    5) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Thank you, I have made a few changes to my laptop and will see how it plays out for the coming week, I'm hoping it's much better, I will report if anything is still an issue.

Thank you again for the assistance, hopefully I can soon get back to Heaven on High again :-)
