Can't you just set up multiple hud layouts? It's an option right there in the HUD layout!
Then just use /hudlayout 2 or /hudlayout 4 etc

I actually have a macro bound to a hotkey for that. Hides my hp and combat hot bars. Just wish I could hide my gauge.![]()
Not something I want to type every time I enter and exit combat. Besides I'm using all 3 of the 4 already. 1 for healers, 1 for dps/tanks, 1 for crafters. The 4th is a minimalist layout for fishing but I don't use it all that much, still like it though.
You can apply the command to a macro, put the macro on a hot bar, and voila, HUD layout change button.

I already use the command in macros that I use to change classes... Like I said, I don't have enough HUD layouts anyways.
Also why do people argue against things like this? It's like "hey I won't use this so it shouldn't be in the game. I don't care if others want it either" excuse.
People are oddly combative about anyone wanting anything here ever.I already use the command in macros that I use to change classes... Like I said, I don't have enough HUD layouts anyways.

I can only speak for ps4 but we can hide the X bar so it only shows up when engaged in combat. Maybe pc has same thing?

I'm supplying options that can help you achieve a similar effect now. Just like what many other helpful people here have done.

Ah, like back then with PS1/Gamecube games where you only get your health bar displayed when you get hit/pick up health?
That would be nice indeed. Why would the game show your EXP bar when you reach the limit, or displaying the chat when nothing has moved there for, let's say, 10 minutes? The healthbar over our heads already disappear when at 100% (healthy), so the game can surely do that internally already, the features are just not expanded.
