    Trial Fantasia

sometimes you think you might want to fanta but you don't want to plop down money for it. i propose once a month you be able to acquire 1 (one) trial fantasia that would basically give you a short period of time (3 hours? 6 hours?) to try your new appearance out and see if you *really* want to fanta or not.

Just make an alt to try out a new look and delete the char when you're done?

I'm starting to question that right.

Depending on your outfits you’ll be able to try them on via the market boards.

But considering that you won’t be able to test every emote out on a new character to check the animations, a trial Fantasia would be good.

To be fair, you can't test out every hairstyle or emote that way. You can only do so on your main character.

Buy a Retainer Fantasia. You can dress them in any of your gear (that they can also equip) to try out glamours, and I expect they can use any hairstyles you've unlocked too, although I haven't tested that.
Then, you can see what they look like in the world, or at least in cities and housing wards, instead of the awful character creator lighting.

I just wish Shadowbringers came with a free fantasia.
I'd have expected it to be listed in the pre-order or game description if it did, but nada.
Unless it's rewarded as a quest reward early on in the MSQ or something.

They can't. Also you will be unable to test emotes and movings. But for testing glamour - yes, it's an option.

That seems like a pointless omittance.

I've lost count of how many times I've done that. Then when I think I'm happy, I've ended up going to places with some really ugly lighting conditions in the Heavensward areas and beyond, and started to regret my choice. It happened to me yesterday, during a thunderstorm in Rhalger's Reach. Some of the lighting in newer areas is super fugly at times and unfortunately a newly created alt cannot go there to test it out.

I'm not sure why you need to worry about basing your character design on how they might look in one specific weather condition in a specific zone. You can never control for that. It might affect every single character equally.

Some lighting does just make characters look awful, no exceptions.
