Server delay is killing the ability to have jam sessions w/friends on performance

One of my friends and I recently got into jamming in-game with the performance action, but we noticed that we always came in at the wrong times. Today I met up with my friend and we tried jamming in FFXIV to see what was up, and it turns out there's a huge delay, like a few seconds of delay between when a key is pressed on the performer, and when the listener hears the note being played.

I just want to see if the community at large also knew that this issue existed. This really explains why all of those musicians who are performing always get so upset when I start harmonizing and jamming out with them. It's cause they hear me coming in and playing the wrong notes at the wrong times xD Even if on my screen I'm playing with them perfectly.

Those are the server ticks. There is a delay from when you interact with the game and when the server registers it. Every online game has this to some degree. As far as I recall the delay for this game is three seconds. On top of that there can be additional delay depending on your internet connection, and how far your physical location is from the data centre you're playing on.

I seriously doubt you would be able to jam and have it sound good in any mmorpg because you're always going to have some delay. In music, even half a second delay can ruin harmony. Never mind something as long as this game's server ticks.

As for whether the community know about this or not, savage raiders generally do because of the split second timing you need to do some boss tactics. The server ticks can sometimes go against you and get you killed. Those who play mostly casual content tend to experience this less often, because it's not as obvious in easier content.

You could set up a 2nd computer, and play one instrument on one account with one hand, and on the other computer have another account and play with your other hand, using the same internet connection.
Although, I don't know if playing two accounts at once is against ToS or not.

Or alternatively, If you and your friend know each other IRL you could grab a laptop and jam with them there using the same connection, it would mean that other players would hear it closer to the way it's supposed to sound.
