    Titan-Egi needs an update

I moments ago posted on page eight of yet another thread complaining about the poor visual presence of Summons in FFXIV. What I posted, however, was in regards to the current bad spot Titan-Egi is in in terms of his mechanics - and I think that's an important enough topic to warrant a thread of its own. This thread isn't about Titan-egi the Chicken Nugget. This thread is about Titan-Egi the Tank.

Titan-Egi has always been the least useful of the three Egis, but he did have his niche. He was useful while soloing, of course, and he used to be tough enough to carry a dungeon run if the tank disconnected.

Over the course of the natural evolution of the game, however, players have gotten stronger and stronger damage rotations - while the potency of Titan's abilities haven't changed at all. In ARR, Titan-egi's enmity generation was plenty to keep ahead of the Summoner, and was enough to even make actual tanks work hard to keep up.

Nowadays, though, Titan-Egi simply can't keep up, not even with his own Summoner - and worse, a SMN's rotation regularly dismisses him to bring out Demi-Bahamut, causing him to lose all accumulated enmity.

Simply put, Titan-Egi can no longer do the one job it was created to do.

So, what can be done? I'd like to see Titan-Egi become a viable tank, again. At a minimum, Titan-egi's enmity generation needs a boost. It needs to be able to keep up with contemporary damage output, whether by boosting the potency of Titan-Egi's attacks, or boosting the amount of additional enmity his attacks generate. (Or both.)

At the same time, it can't really be a flat adjustment to Titan-Egi's stats, or he would become a menace in low-level dungeons. I'm thinking that a Summoner Job Trait might be in order - perhaps one that boosts the damage across ALL Egis (Titan's not the only one whose attacks are pretty lackluster in today's meta).

Dealing with the enmity loss due to summoning Demi-Bahamut is a hairier issue. Allowing Titan-egi to keep his enmity while temporarily dismissed is one possible avenue. Giving him Ultimatum to quickly regain hate is another. Both solutions, though, leave the Summoner (and their fellow party members) vulnerable while Demi-Bahamut is out.

Perhaps Demi-Bahamut should share Titan-Egi's enmity? Let HIM be the tank, while Titan-egi is away? That would require quite the overhaul, since Demi-Bahamut is currently not targetable, damageable, or killable.

What do people think? What can we do to bring our chicken nugget back into play - even to the limited usefulness he had in ARR?

I like the idea that the transition between titan-egi and bahamut-demi is seamless, if demi "dies" then he'll go untargetable and continue on as is normal. In the case that bahamut dies (turns back to how we're used to) you may recast titan egi to get bahamut back into tanking form - otherwise titan egi will also be dead when bahamut phase ends. One thing I've liked to see was the ability to phase in and out your egi (like demi is phased out), allowing them to dodge/avoid damage and interruptions (well most at least). Of course if you phase out then the enmity is reset (phasing is an ability on the egi/demi, and when passing from form to form it maintains that setting of either phased-in or phased-out except Titan who will temporarily turn it on automatically).

On Titan egi perhaps casting sustain causes all your enmity at a multiplier goes to Titan egi for duration of sustain. Also I think sustain should replace your current summon (if you have titan out his summon button is now sustain, saving us one slot), and if you cast it while currently active it'll increase mp cost but turn into a large burst heal to your pet (like 35% tier heal).

I mean, for starters, I'd love for Sustain to simply be passive. Have all the summons (Including fairies) simply regenerate 8% of their max HP per 3 seconds.

Since, it's plain annoying to keep having to spam that (Not to mention, as a heal, it causes further enmity on your part...). It's already a DPS loss to be using Titan and be unable to Bahamut. Spamming Sustain too means I may as well just swap to a Tank because it'd be doing similar DPS >.>

    Outside of that...

Maybe put a Taunt effect onto Landslide? But that only puts him above YOUR enmity (So when people are using him in dungeons/trials, things don't go to pot when he keeps taunting off the Tank)

    Then for Demi-Bahamut...

I don't know... I wouldn't like him to become targetable, because that means that certain OP boss skills would end up killing him when you're doing actual content as an actual DPS, for the niche upside of being able to solo some stuff and use Bahamut... Which is not a particularly worthwhile trade-off. I say, as someone who regularly tries to solo difficult content.

Maybe something like, when Chicken Nugget-Egi leaves play (Either, he dies, you die or you summon a new entity, be that Spicy Popoto-Egi, Green Goblin-Egi or Demi-Bahamut) he leaves like a rock in play, that has his max HP and retains his enmity. Then, if the rock is still alive when you resummon Chicken Nugget-Egi (Or he returns upon Bahamut timing out) it is destroyed and its enmity returns back to Titan.

This should hopefully allow you to Bahamut, without having him drop his entire enmity.

The whole reason they dropped sustain was because they didn't really like how easy SMN could breeze through things on it's own. In heavensward Titan could hold 2 FATE bosses on it's own if I kept sustain up constantly. SMN is the only class that can pull that off.
As I've played the game the necessity of fighting that many things at once has dropped off considerably. Is it nice to have Titan tanking crowds? Very much so, but honestly it would be better to go and grab friends for stuff than try and solo everything.
And I generally just don't call out Bahamut when I'm using Titan. The stuff you need Titan for isn't stuff you really need bahamut for.

Give him a taunt that puts him above only your enmity, so it won't affect tanks if somebody has him out accidently
this way he can get aggro right back after bahamut
