    ShB Zone Content

Are any others interested to see wether these awesome looking areas we’re getting in ShB will have reasons for actually spending time in them? I find it hard to say but I wouldn’t mind a return to how fates were in HW, it was actually fun grinding as an option to leveling...I would not want dungeons to lose their leveling appeal either. Hunts are not for everyone, and it’s not really the same.

I would really love to see some sort of besieged type content for the zones as well in this next expansion. It’s unfortunate how these awesome zones they create just sit unused mostly and devoid of players. Just a thought Im sure some will know not agree, but I hope we some some change here.

I'd love to have something more interesting than Fates...granted that doesn't make much.

When the MMO Rift launched years ago (and when I played it pretty regularly before it went f2p and p2w) I loved their zone event system. Elemental portals (rifts) would open up across a zone and you could complete them. Players also had the ability to open them with elemental spells of every possible element. If things were killed fast enough it would advance to different stages, culminating in a good bit of EXP and other goodies. Once every so often an invasion would trigger, making these rifts open up all across the zone and sending armies of monsters to pillage and plunder various settlements and quest hubs. Players could either cut their losses and focus on other things or fight to retake them. After enough progress was made a boss would spawn for players to kill. They were basically S rank marks on steroids. Upon killing it, or after enough time passed, the invasion would end and a few minutes later any taken settlements or hubs would revert to normal. Players would also receive various rewards like currencies, non combat pets, etc. Alot of EXP could also be gained over the course of the invasion. It was probably some of the most fun I've had in any MMO ever and I wish it were present in some form in FF XIV. I can only imagine the possibilities in this game with the whole light vs darkness concept.

Nope, we are all interested about the new awesome instances (dungeons, trials, raids etc)

While I agree with disliking how often we actually spend in the zones outside of MSQ and Sidequests, I’d much rather the content that brings us into the overworld be something far more engaging than FATEs. Large-scale FATEs I don’t mind: I remember the days of Early Access and Early SB where people congested into Yanxia and The Lochs for Foxy Lady/Ixion—and the sea of red pokeballs you’d see, plus the mass of people that would randomly fall over dead because the game culled the ground AOEs.

Personally, I'm all for more content in overworlds.

But my expectations are that we'll just see more of the same, with MSQ taking us on a quick tour through zones solo duties. With maybe a few worthless FATEs and a handful of side-quests...

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they axed some content, such as FATEs or Sightseeing Log at this point >.>

I don’t disagree at all, and let’s face it if push comes to shove I’d rather see development put into instances, it just seems like a damn waste..

As pretty as the areas are I'm not a fan of open world content since when it dies there is no roulette to keep it somewhat alive for new people trying to do it.
