Need advice | Returning player, under 50, used tales of adventure - help leveling

So me and my friend decided to jump back into FF14 today. I am level 52 and he is level 46.

I have returned to the game several times in the past and quickly burned out playing the main campaign (over 60 quests to go) and just wanted to start Heavensward. So I bought Tales of Adventure (and convinced my friend to do it too).

However, I didnt realize you would need to be level 50 to even enter the area (I thought I could help him quickly level in Heavensward.. i know stupid). So now his level 46 and doesn't have any quests left for the main scenario (because he also used Tales of Adventure).

I need help getting him to level 50 quickly... his 46 now as I've said. I remember doing main story quest, for good exp, but that's not an option anymore due to skipping the main scenario quests with tales of adventure. I tried running some fates in Northern Thanalan with him but exp seemed very slow.

Can anyone suggest a fast way for both of us to play together to help him level from 46 to 50 quickly so that we can both start the new expansion together?

Thanks you for reading, any help and advice is greatly appreciated. A little overwhelmed as I haven't played in a couple of years and not caught up with the latest and MASSIVE changes.

I would recommend you do all the daily roulettes that you can since they give a decent exp boost. Also make sure you eat food and use any buffs you can to increase the exp gained. Might take a day or two, but getting from 46 to 50 is a lot easier than it use to be.

Leveling roulette, followed by other dungeon runs as close to your friend's level as he has unlocked. And be sure to unlock any of the optional ones as he reaches the level for them.

FATEs are ok for filling in time while waiting on DF queues (probably only needed if you're both on DPS jobs), but the XP will come faster while you're in a dungeon.

Most of the good suggestions have already been given, but you might also want to try out the deep dungeon Palace of the Dead as well to get some experience. Though it should be noted that repeatedly running that may ALSO cause some burnout.

At level 46, the highest level dungeon your friend can do is Dzemael Darkhold, which is unlocked through optional quests in Coerthas Central Highlands. At level 47, they can also unlock the Aurum Vale dungeon, which is also from Coerthas IIRC.

In addition to the above suggestions, you can fill out some challenge log entries and do some beast tribe quests. Challenge log(unlocks at level 15 in limsa) has a number of entries to give bonus exp(do dungeons, commend other players, run fates, do leves, maybe a few others) which reset weekly on tuesday morning. Meanwhile, there are 4 beast tribes(kobold, sahagin, amalja, sylph) he could befriend and each will offer him 3 quests per day for another quick hit of exp(they offer more quests at higher faction levels, but the daily limit is 12 quests regardless). Technically theres a 5th tribe available before level 50 too(ixali), but they offer crafter quests not combat ones. Using all these tips, 46-50 should only take a day or two.
