How is clicking for 20 hours straight to get a house good game play or even fair....

Seriously, I met the requirements to get my FC a house....I earned the money to buy as small house....now I just spent the entire night right clicking on a sign, then clicking FC, then clicking yes buy...only to keep getting the message about the plot NOT being ready to sell....I'm really angry about this. I spent the entire timer, all the way down to "0" doing this and then another 6 hour timer pops up...what is that? I hear there is also a secret underlying timer that no one can see that can pop between 30 minutes to 24 hours. Seriously, the developers are frigging insane and they need to use instanced housing or something and layer them over top of others so people that meet the other requirements can get a god damned house.

Oh, and lets not forget the people who randomly walk up and just CLICK! Got your house....sorry. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED! You guys need to add more resources to housing, I know the head Dev said something about lacking resources, well ADD THE RESOURCES, WE ALREADY PAY YOU A SUBSCRIPTION FOR YOU TO MANAGE THIS GAME!

You are not supposed to click for 20 hours at a time and you can thank the house sellers for forcing SE to build in a system against this abuse.

Kenky has explained the devaluation timer so I don't need to.

We understand the frustration but players aren't intended to be camping placards to get a house. If they choose to do it, that's on them. Camping might offer a slight improvement to your chances but it does not guarantee it.

Also, it's not your house until the game allows you to purchase it. Those other players who happen to walk up at the right time so they get the house instead of you had the same right to purchase it as you did. Maybe learn from what they did and don't waste your time camping for 20 hours straight?

There's more to resources than simply having money. Contrary to popular belief, money does not make everything you want instantly available. Your lack of a house in game should show that. Real life is even more restrictive because resources are far more limited than they are in a game.

The purchase timer also wouldn't have been required in the first place if SE had chosen to use instanced housing instead of a ward system. There's some blame to be had on both sides.

Okay.. Let's take this one step at a time.

The timer you see on the Placard? That isn't how long until the plot is available. That's how long until the plot drops in price. The actual timer for availability is hidden, for rather obvious reasons. If we could see it, then plenty of people could essentially clog that instance up, ensuring their purchase and you'd be out of luck.

The Developers aren't "insane" so much as they are simply trying to make the best out of a bad situation. The "hidden timer" is a result of people abusing the system and for the foreseeable future, it is the system we all have to play by until they decide to change it. Instanced Housing would indeed fix the housing issue, allowing people to get what they want when they want it, but that goes against their philosophy on housing in general.

Several Developers have said they prefer the "neighborhood" feeling of the wards and do not want that to change. Meaning the only 'Instanced Housing' you will get is FC rooms / Apartment rooms. No company in the world could prepare for the sudden player surge that Stormblood brought with it and they are at least trying to appease who they can when they can. So long as they have the spare resources to do so. The Firmament is proof of this and a potential ward upgrade alongside the Firmament release, perhaps reaching to 30, if not maybe 40 wards per housing district. (quick mathematics would mean that is another 2,400 houses per district.)

While that may not FIX the problem, it will only delay it. With how infrequent major patches and changes come to the game, you will have to answer one simple question before thinking about buying a house. "Are you going to play FFXIV enough to warrant this purchase?" as, if you buy a house, then don't log-in or enter the building in 45 days, you will lose the house.

I too prefer the neighborhood feeling as well, it gives a sense of actually community. Instanced housing only sounds good on paper when a person is completely frustrated in trying to get their own house, but think how lonely and empty instanced housing would feel at the end of the day, i mean, it would be lonely for me anyway. xD I'm sure there are a good number of folk who would prefer complete solitude.

Housing isn't perfect that is for sure, but i feel like they are well on their way to the actual solution they've been looking for all this time with the Island Paradise content, which gives us our own private island, and potentially: Housing/building plots on said private island.

It's already lonely and empty in the ward of my personal house.

Only reason the ward for my FC feels not so empty is because FC members like to hang out at the FC house (though it starts feeling empty if I go cruising around other parts of the ward).

I've used instanced housing in other games. It's not any lonelier than the wards are. Depending on the game, it could be even more lively because of systems designed for you to share your housing with others so you'd get random players showing up to look. This game doesn't have a good system for doing that.

IDK man I just imagine they're all inside.
I don't know about where you live but around me people don't hang out in their yards nearly as often as FCs do in game, and if someone is in their yard IRL it's generally their backyard where I still can't see them.
I actually have better relationships with my in game neighbors than my real life ones. There's not a market board on my IRL block I can bump into people at. I've literally never been in any of my IRL neighbors houses, but in game people welcome me in if only to show off their house.

I kinda get where you're coming from, but I don't feel it.

Unfortunately the people who walk up, click and get a house are doing it right. There's no mathematic advantage to spending hours clicking at a placard. The only thing that matters is who is clicking at exactly the moment that the house drops. You actually have a better shot if you go to the aetheryte at set intervals, visit each open plot, click a set number of times, and then go to a new one. You might decrease your chance at getting one specific spot, but you increase your chance over all.

I'm not saying the housing system is great, but sitting for 20 hours is just going to make you miserable.

The only worse example of a housing system would be none. Fortunately I got my small and then medium personal way back before all of the hullabaloo. My FC was given to me by my hubby who started it about 4 yrs ago. We both just walked up and bought the homes but if I had to deal with what you all do now, I'd be playing something else lol. Hope you have some luck getting what you want.
