So as I am sure most of us are aware, there is a rule against using profanity.

But here is the kicker, there is an option in game to remove the chat filter, allowing you to see and use profanity....

Is it just me or does that feel like a generally obvious error.

I am sure hundreds upon thousands of players have received suspensions and restrictions because of this rule, and in my opinion, it isn't fair in the slightest.

Why would you make an option to remove the chat filter, if only to punish players who use profanity?

And I don't mean harassing, attacking, slur profanity. I mean general MMO banter.

If someone reports you for this, you receive an instant suspension.
The last bit is the main one that crossed my mind. Most I would think most people are okay with a curse here and there in general chit-chat. Unless said curses are used to harass. With the bad word filter off, the player can see both types of chat and more then likely if they see curses being used to attack or harass they will probably report and curses use in general chit-chat will be just that and not reported. Excessive use might be another thing too. Me personally if I see someone in a linkshell chatting where every other word they use is a curse word it can get borderline annoying and I wouldn't think twice about blacklisting them. That's just me though, maybe another would be annoyed far more then me and decide it's enough to file a report.
