The only problem here are the people who are trying to tell people that don't like certain parts of the game that this game is not for them. You don't care about people that just want to do the endgame? But its ok if said people write guides, explain things or carry you through said end game content, right? It is true that this game has always been like this but that doesn't mean that people have no right to say that they don't like it this way and it also doesn't give you or anyone else to pile your hatred on them.

Except that it's not a problem, you seeing it as a problem doesn't make it one just because it doesn't fall in line with how you play the game. They aren't removing the story from you, they added the MSQ skip books for people who don't care about that part of the game. It is a option for someone who doesn't care about that aspect of the game, it has no impact on you personally. Just because the game puts emphasis on the story doesn't mean that every single person that tries out the game is going to be interested in it, the skip books give more players more options for how they want to approach the game and more options is never a bad thing.

It's not for YOU to say what the game is for. It doesn't matter what you think the game should be, you saying it isn't going to make it magically become true. The fact of the matter is, the skip potions and level boosts were added into the game to bring in more players that like different aspects of the game. Just because they don't enjoy the story doesn't mean they shouldn't be playing the game nor are you in any position to dictate how people should play the game. Get over yourself.

I will say that at least the MSQ skip keeps the structure of the story. Your character still completed those quests you skipped unlike in WoW where progression breaks because you literally just skipped the quests and they're still there undone even though your character is now doing quests that supposedly happened after those quests you skipped.

I think it is really important to not remove the MSQ aspect of this game. I have a lot of confidence that those who love the story this game provides don't have anything to worry about in that regard.

I also think it's fair that as paid subscribers, you are allowed to play the game the way you want to. A lot, and I do mean a lot of stuff is gated behind MSQ progression. I am a pacifist. I could quite literally spend all of my days in this game doing nothing but gathering, fishing, gardening, and crafting. However, complete access to all the zones and flight is gated, so I have to fight. It's a really good thing I do enjoy the story, am a bit of a completionist, and all content outside savage/ultimate is not so difficult that I can't heal them in confidence. If this was not the case, this mmo would sadly not be for me.

At the core of the matter, it comes down to your own enjoyment. If you enjoy this mmo then ride it out as long as that enjoyment remains, or the game's servers remain alive. I highly recommend to stop worrying about the enjoyment of veterans and new subscribers alike. This is something outside your control, and it is for SE to worry about. Instead, play with the veterans and help the new players. That is something in your control that will give longevity to the game.
