While it is not only about story it still is a story based MMO. There will even be a new game +

If the story wasn't important we wouldn't get that.
The story can be important without requiring new players to go through a 150+ hour slog. Nobody has to play 1.0 to understand ARR, so there's no reason people need to clear this higher and higher barrier for entry. Heck, you can enjoy Heavensward if you just watch the trailer and skip all of ARR. Same with Stormblood.

You, and a new player, don't need to know every minute of the story to get a rough understanding of the game to enjoy it. Additional information provides additional context -- just as playing 1.0 provided additional context to 2.0 -- but it's genuinely stupid to expect everyone to literally study the plot for essentially three expansions before even touching Shadowbringers.
