Well, you know, people will take what they want out of any given thing, whether in context or not, and believe it, as long as it reinforces their assumptions or opinions. While completely invalidating other's concerns, or opinions. Point proven.

There really is no need to rush to Shadowbringers beyond wanting to experience the MSQ with everyone else. You won't be left out of the new expansion's raid content because that won't be released until later.
Funny.
Okay, if you're just going to make fun of people responding to you, there is no value in this thread.
Multiple people have said that they see value in and derive enjoyment from content you/your friend do not. Neither side is wrong because the only conclusion we can derive from this is that the issue is largely subjective. The game could do more to streamline old content without relying on story skips and new game+, but at the same time, said content is important to the game's identity. Any player, whether real or imaginary, who is only interested in endgame activities and hates everything outside of it... probably isn't who this game is made for. And that's perfectly okay because the MMO market offers them an overabundance of alternatives.

I will say this plainly. I don't like story skip, as it completely skips the story. New game+ is a bandaid, not a fix. I want people to be able to get to relevent, fun (arguably, apparently), content without having to spend dozens, or a hundred hours on ARR-SB to get to it, especially as more and more expansions will be released and this will only get worse. That being said, I also want people, like WoW to be able to play the older content at their own leisure. I don't know how they could streamline this, or fix this perfectly, since they have already dug themselves in a hole, but as the expansions pile up, so will the content bloat, in my opinion.Funny.

I have said this many times, speaking broadly, the focus was not on me nor my supposed 'fake' friend (cat). Apparently, it has gone completely over most people's heads so that they can focus on one thing.
I'm probably at that arbitrary post limit, but I'll just clear it up. Dude has 2 level 60 classes. Oddly still at ARR-HW (inbetween) content, I do roullete's with him. He has completed the ARR story. I was referring to the way he was expressing his feeling towards the grind, and I thought they many new/returning players would probably feel the same way, so I wanted to express my feelings on a flaw with the game. Since apparently this is all anyone can focus on. As if I have imaginary friends.I'm lost on wether you really have a friend or not but if you have one, why not make an alt and play with him?
On the opposite if you have not,do you have any friend that could play with you?
Imo this MMO is all about story. I like the rest obviously. But I never could make people stay with gameplay only.
I know I'm not clear here but dunno how to express it, I hope you get it.

FF14 tries to keep most of its content relevant and populated even long past its expiration date. Between roulettes, WTs, relics (except SB), mount farming and such, and various revival communities that try to keep even things like Rival Wings and Diadem possible to do by organising expeditions, anyone is able to find a group for anything in the game, and pretty much everything in the game will reward them with tomestones, glamours, mounts, minions, etc.
So I disagree with the idea that only the latest expansion matters and everything that came before it is a waste of time.
I came in towards the middle of Stormblood's patch cycle slightly over a year ago so I had to run through all of AAR, HW and Stormblood to catch up. But I did (and then did it all over, including most of the game's side content, on an alt, and by now both of them have almost nothing left to do except farming the last couple of dogs). So why exactly should any new player coming into the game last year, today, or a few years from now, not be expected to have the same experience? In fact, I just made another alt last week to accompany a returning friend through the whole game, and she even insisted on starting over from level one. I don't know if she'll reach Shadowbringers by the time it's released, but that doesn't really matter - it will be around for at least the next 2 years and even afterwards all its content will still be accessible (with various catch-up mechanics such as tomestone gear and the Echo making them easier to unlock and complete) whenever she gets around to it.

I must say that im sad to listen to your friends power struggle to keep up, ive been there when i was a returner but then we must remind us that this is a straight linear forward game where you pick up everything in time and patience, sadly this isnt a sandbox game, but we getting New Game+ like some already mentioned so thats always something to look forward to oki

Along these lines I have brought a few friends over who all had the same opinions. While they liked the game they disliked the " forced story progression" Or "Linear forward game" as you put it. They just want to kill stuff get better to kill more stuff. Which this game really doesn't have. You have to at least complete the story ( or skip it) once. I'm in the process of looking for a good Korean style MMO for them. I wish they did not preorder SHB I tried to warn them off but some folks don't listen.I must say that im sad to listen to your friends power struggle to keep up, ive been there when i was a returner but then we must remind us that this is a straight linear forward game where you pick up everything in time and patience, sadly this isnt a sandbox game, but we getting New Game+ like some already mentioned so thats always something to look forward to oki
Guess the point is this game is what it is there are some core elements like the story that they will not change it's what makes FF. Sure they could make it more of a sandbox, but then you may as well be playing another game.
I only think New player experience sucks if you're desperate to get to the end game or really hate reading :P
