Game crashing after a few seconds

Hello I have just recently started playing FFXIV a week or two ago and it has gone smoothly until today where I walk a few steps in game and then I suddenly crash. I close the game, open again, do the same thing, then it happens again.

Have any changes been to the PC at all? Also what have you tried so far to alleviate the issue? Also could you provide a system report?
Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

No not that I can think of, and I haven't done any yet. I stopped playing once it crashed a few more times before giving up and going to sleep. Today it was actually completely fine until just a few moments before I post this where it gave me the same exact crash after turning in a quest and walking away a little, maybe like a few steps.

Hey there, just posting to say I've been getting the same issue since yesterday.

The error codes shown aren't consistent, but they all seem to be DX11 related - and the ones shown above were the same as my initial crash. Game can run anywhere between 30 seconds to almost an hour before it crashes out.

I'm updating my drivers right now, and I'll update if that fixes it. If it doesn't I'm going to switch to DX9 and see if there are any crashes there.

There haven't been any system changes to cause this as far as I'm aware, it just started happening randomly since yesterday.

I think it's pretty safe to say updating the drivers did actually fix it!

I did a clean install, no problems since. Wasn't expecting that to actually work.

Not sure what caused it to break in the first place but if you haven't updated, definitely try it. If it doesn't help try running DDU, it'll uninstall all your drivers, cleaning out any old ones that might be causing conflicts. Shouldn't need to, though.

Thank you for the update KahmaOfDragons.

The error you are getting is a little vague, so there are a few different things I'd like to suggest:

1) Update/reinstall the graphics card drivers. Do a clean install of the drivers if you can.

2) Do a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

3) Disable any overlays that may be present. These will include programs like Geforce Experience or the Discord Overlay.

4) Reinstall the game. When you do this, make sure to delete the locally saved data as well (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make a backup of this in case it doesn't resolve the issue.
