OK big deal, now we can fly. Except it is so complicated that just the ability to fly would have been more logical. But ok, motto :stretch out the game

I clicked any green thingys I could find and did all the quests as well. However I still cannot fly. Looking at my box with aehter squares I do not have ALL of them. OK so I basically have to finish the area/game before I can fly in those areas? So why would I need to fly when I am basically finished with the area?

I have the "big deal" black chocobo and "can now fly'. How very very stupid. I still cannot fly and will not be able to until I have found and clicked all green swirls in the area and done all the quests? Big deal! Stuff the 'flying' I'll skip the flying until I find another game to play!

Any reason, take your pick. You could be doing side quests, hunts, main story quests (some things take you back), or even gathering materials. Flying has its perks and it is much quicker than going by foot everywhere.

To unlock all aether currents and flight, you need to also complete 'blue' sidequests in the area that give currents as rewards.

You may return to the area later for any number of reasons: job quests or further MSQ events, gathering, sightseeing logs, finding treasure chests and hunting elite marks.

1. Did you use the compass to find ALL of the Aether currents in the area.
2.theres blue quests and MSQ that give you currents as well.
3.You dont really need to fly , its just there to be a bit more conveinant really

could be worse. you could have to get max reputation with a wide assortment of factions and an assortment of other end game requirements.

Did you also do the teach your GC chocobo how to fly quest? I hear that blocks flying for some.

You don't really need to fly. It's just add-on content. If getting all the Aether-currents are too cumbersome for you, just ignore them. Though watching people zip over your head while you're forced to chocobo or run around the huge zones, may be ample enough motivation to get all those Aether-Currents. Heck, you could even make an adventure of it!
