It just puts more pressure on people wanting to try the role. Back when there were 2 tanks you had backup just incase anything went wrong. Now if you tank messes up it can sometimes wipe out your party which in turn can wipe out the entire alliance.
You do have backup - the other two tanks. There are very few cases were all of the tanks in the 24-man alliance actually have to act as tanks all at once.
