    Skill Ability Descriptions: Quelling Strike/Blindside

The descriptions on these 2 abilities "Quelling Strike" and Blindside needs to be clear that it works on spells too.

(If not what's the point of allowing them to be used by BLM?)

Edit = Posted in anticipation of the next patch.

Blindside: Makes your next attack a critical hit when executed from behind the target. Does not affect auto-attacks or spells.

    Quelling Strike:
Reduces enmity and increases TP generated by next attack. Does not affect auto-attacks.
(does not say to won't work)

I am expecting it to work with the next patch though. Please read the part in brackets.
As for why, just look at the rather short list of usable cross-class abilities by BLM.

Anyway, JP text for Quelling Strike says Physical Attacks only (物理攻撃).

Just because BLM CAN equip it, doesn't mean it would do anything. There are a lot of things I can equip on my conjurer now that are of limited use, such as Invigorate only being useful for popping Second Wind every once in a while.

    Hello all,

    Quelling Strike
Reduces enmity and increases TP generated by next attack. Ends Raging Strike effect if active to provide a further TP bonus.

I just went over and spoke with the dev. team member in charge of actions/abilities and asked him what falls under 'attack' and here's what he gave me:

    Auto-attack
    Throwing
    Archer shots
    Weaponskills
    Damage-dealing magic
    Damage-dealing actions

In other words, anything that (has the possibility) of dealing damage is deemed an 'attack,' and will receive the benefit of Quelling Strike.

Actions that are not affected by Quelling Strike are:

    Medicine/potion usage
    Non-damage dealing actions
    Curative, enhancing, enfeebling magic

    -----------

    Blindside
Makes your next attack a critical hit when executed from behind the target. Does not affect auto-attacks or spells.

It turns out that this description was a little more vague than the developers intended. In fact, this action only affects weaponskills. To better relay this, we will be updating the help text in patch 1.21a from 'attack' to 'weaponskill.'

As for your suggestion, I passed it along to the man in charge. He said he would look into it, but for now there are no plans to extend the action's effect beyond weaponskills.

    -----------

    I hope that helps!!
