so. how much computer do i need for eureka?

i was in danger of dropping below 40 fps last night. i had a 1080 ti and a 7700k cpu. so i upgraded today. well, the situation is a lot better, but i still can't hit 60 fps minimum

sorry. i tried making a clickable thumbnail but couldn't figure it out. you can right-click the image, then open it in a new tab. oh, or go here https://i.imgur.com/TF4w8GI.jpg

It depends on your game settings. If you turn stuff down you can get higher framerate than that on a lower spec computer. Displaying the maximum amount of character plus battle effects will nosedive framerate but you keeping above 30fps in eureka is still pretty good. My old computer barely managed 30 when idle in a town lol

Are you playing in 4K resolution? Because I used to play FFXIV in it, and it turns out, FFXIV doesn't like it very much, and when I switched it to a lower res, my frames greatly improved, I have 50+ frames in all content, and I am on a 1060. If you lower your resolution to 1080, you should have no problem keeping the frames.

i ain’t willing to lower my graphics settings, though i did try lowering the character count. it didn’t make a difference until I got to Low. though i’m willing to play in Low in eureka, i don’t want to outside of eureka. it makes nearby npc fade in and out often

i’ve never tried 4k. i’m using an ultrawide at 3440x1440. it has less pixels than a 4k, but it shows more of the game, so more characters on screen at a time

i’m happy with the fps i’m getting now. i’m just showing that even the fastest current processor and gpu can’t handle eureka lol

FPS isn't a huge problem even with an average setup but the ability lag and such is there at all times if enough people are fighting in a confined space. It'll be amusing to watch them try their stress test soon. Their servers/code are absolutely poor so the servers will go down in a blaze of glory and they may even regret doing the stress test. It's probably wishful thinking but I kinda hope that it'll show them that they need to upgrade things asap.

I've never been inside eureka but if a 1080ti ain't cutting it something's wrong lol. I use a 1070ti and play on max settings with well over 60fps everywhere i go.

i’ve been tracking this problem for years. it only occurs in situations like eureka and hunts. i also get a solid 60 everywhere else. doesn’t happen in 72 person pvp. doesn’t happen in 24 person alliance. oh, it also happened in kugane (in the past), idyllshire, and i’ve read mor dhona, though that was before my time. and it happens in hunts. it requires a lot of people who aren’t in any party like in pvp or raid

also, it isn’t the gpu. it’s the cpu. i just upgraded to a 2080 ti. in the pic it’s hovering around 60% usage. but the cpu, a 9900k, shows at least one of the processors getting maxed out, with pretty good usage across all of them. means i need more cores to handle all those people

No amount of computer can save you from Eureka. You'll still be subject to players, enemies, and sometimes even AoE markers being culled. The game just isn't built for large-scale fights.

yeah, thats an engine limitation, no hardware can do anything about it.
