Fighting Mounts?

I found a post from way back in 2014 about Fighting Mounts. Have we discussed this more recently?

Of course, with all the new mounts and Flight and the old Beast Tribes being left behind, isn't it time to make those Beast Tribe mounts relevant again by allowing them as Fighting Companions?

It seems that all the mounts that make sense as fighting companions already occur as fighting mobs somewhere already, so it's not like there's a lot of work to add Animations and Skills to the Mob Types. Wolves appear in the wild, and in PoD etc, Same with Behemoth, and Ahriman, for example. Ok, I'm willing to not have the Whale and Sabotender Emperador and the motor cycle and the new car, what is it called? - anyway. I'm sure it's easy to see what mounts make sense and which don't. I'd love to grind for the sweet Ixtali DireWolf, but it's pretty irrelevant now since it doesn't fly. But it sure would be sweet if it was my fighting companion, even if it couldn't fly. And that sweet serpent thing from the Sea of Clouds.. That would be a great fighting companion too.

We would need a way to choose which of our mounts would act as our fighting companion. And let's not add a lot of complexity around gyshal greens. Just leave that the same for all the fighting companions. No new training, just allow us to choose from the mounts we have as fighters. Same Training and progression shared across all the fighters.

Have we not talked about this in the last four years?

It's been talked about here and there but its one of those older systems that the dev team is unlikely to touch because 1. It's overworld content and we know how much they "love" to add to that and 2. It's also and older system and we also know their mentality on going back to tweak and improve on older content( they don't) so we can talk about it sure. Will they add to it? Seeing as they haven't touched on it since the middle of HW, as much as I'd love for them do literally ANYTHING new with companions, I'm not holding my breath.

I have been wanting this or some form of this for a HOT minute. Even if it was just a glam option for our Chocobo. There are already ability actions programmed into the game for each beast tribe mount that is based on an in game mob so it would not be hard to make this a thing. I unfortunately feel like they are holding out for Beat Tamer Limited Job before they make this a reality.
