    Low FPS and lag issues

    Hello,
I am hoping to get some help on this issue I am having since I can't seem to pin point what is causing it myself.

The past week or so while playing FFXIV my FPS will suddenly drop very low to 9-11 fps and I will experience massive lag. It happens at all random times sometimes I am in dungeons, raid, eureka or just sitting in a main city. I have checked my CPU and GPU while it has happened and everything is normal there. I have also tried to close everything else running to make sure it wasn't a RAM issue but that didn't help either. It does not fix it if I restart the game or my computer. As far as I can tell I have no other programs interfering with the game.

My friend thinks it might be a corrupt file and I should try reinstalling the game but before I try that I wanted to post here and see if anyone had any ideas.

All my drivers and graphics are updated and my computer is very new only about 4 months old.
    I appreciate any help. TYIA

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this start happening? Do you recall anything updating/changing on your PC that coincides with this?

Are these FPS drops constant or does it return to normal after a while?

Can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Play in fullscreen and change the frame rate limiter ingame to no limit. Then, fully close and reopen the game so windows focuses on it correctly, resource wise.

There has been a problem playing in borderless with 1/1 fps scale in this game for years and they wont fix it.
Happens to me every few days as well and Im using a 1000$ 2080 TI graphics card.
Not a single gpu setting will help it, its 100% this game.

    Thank you for the reply.

UnrealTai, could you provide a system report in your next reply? Also, if you have not done so already, please update the graphics drivers. Please do so in your own thread.

    Hope to see you online!

I am having this exact same issue as well. A little bit of backstory the game ran perfectly for me on maximum settings until the day I downloaded the complete edition (had just hit 50 on my main) and once the download was complete the game has been almost unplayable. Massive lag spikes, framerate drops, etc that lock the game up for multiple seconds in general. It doesn't happen with any other game including MMOs and I used the FF14 benchmark and it said my computers performance was extremely high (and that was with the game running in the background randomly lagging out). I'd love some help with this otherwise I'm afraid I wasted my money on the expansion as I wont be able to play the game let alone keep my sub.
