So I was chitchatting and came up with a really neat idea. I have been doing Verminion recently and that kinda planted the seed. My thought, have minions that can walk around either outside or inside on the set floor.

So much like NPC placement it would be a silhouette with an interface maybe something akin to the fish tank, with a couple slots to put minions in. This would allow for the minions to then walk around the area freely as if they were always there, making estates feel more alive and lived in, as well as allowing for multiple new styles and ways to accent a build.

Now, my logic for having it be a silhouette with an interface is 2-fold. Now I dont know FFXIV coding or any of the background logic but my thought, but the first part of my thought was to have it read the navmesh of that floor/outside and allow them to walk around without walking all over furnishings or counters like they do when they follow you. The second half is rather simple, to allow for use of the minion items, my FC has at least 3-5 minions sitting in our chest if anyone wants them and being able to use the ones that everyone has would be a cute and cool way to spice up the FC house.

This has come up many times and SE has said it would not be possible to accomplish with the way housing is designed. They wouldn't be able to prevent the minions from pathing through furnishings.

They could if minion placement was treated like a furnishing. For example when you choose where to place the minion a circle will appear around it indicating the amount of ground it covers with its movement, so then you could choose to place it without any clipping.

This same thing is capable in ESO, but as stationary figures much like how the retainers are now. We need this. XD In ESO you can place your pets as well as mounts out on your front lawn for people to see. I would so love this to be available in FFXIV.
