PSA: 50% off sale in SE store through May 6th

Just wanted to be sure everyone who is interested knows that Square Enix is having a 50% sale right now on FFXIV (Stormblood, and also the Complete Edition)!

I’m a returner, and am still in ARR (blush). I love this game, and knew a few days after returning that I will be pre-ordering Shadowbringers. However, even though I am so far behind, there are still features in Stormblood that I would like to have now (increased level cap, new jobs, etc.).

However, I couldn’t justify spending $40 (just for the standard SB edition) when ShB includes SB at launch. I was really hoping for a 50% off sale, also believing there are probably others like me who left before SB as well.

Yay, it’s here! But it’s only through May 6th, so I hope the word gets out. (Someone in Novice Network mentioned it to me.) MMORPG.com has a piece on it, haven’t seen one on Massively yet. Maybe they are sending e-mails out; my game e-mail is exclusive to FFXIV, so I rarely check it.

SB Collector’s Edition is on sale too, so I spent an extra $10 to get that, since I love me a new minion and mount (and chicken knife!).

Hoping that Square sees some good numbers from this sale, so that they will continue to offer 50% off sales in the future. If you have any friends who might be interested, spread the word!

It's already too late for me but I would advise anyone who wants to do stormblood content like level up your classes and unlocks to do so with the sale event. I wish I catched this two weeks ago.

I thought if you pre-ordered Shadowbringers it unlocked all the available content before it when it sends you the pre-order bonus items. Is that wrong?

The other expansions that come with Shadowbringers are unlocked on the release date of the next expansion. Only a few bonus items were unlocked before.

Some of the other stuff like plushes that come with in-game item codes are on sale too. Shipping is still too high for me, but for those that don't mind it, make sure you check all the conditions for items you're ordering. It looks like some of the items with expired codes will add usable codes to your account when you process the order, BUT you do not get a functional code from those particular items if you check out as a guest.

If you only have the base game, and then pre-order Shadowbringers, you definitely will not have access to Stormblood content until ShB content releases for you.

I am unsure about Heavensward, since when I came back after being away for a few years, my account showed HW content as being available to me (open circle) but Stormblood had the "buy" button. Perhaps as expansions are released, content older than the preceding expansion are bundled back into the base game content. I checked through my entire history and could not find where I had purchased HW. Anyway, someone who hasn't bought HW or SB could check it out as well.

That's why I posted this thread, because there may be others like me who don't want to wait 2 months for the features introduced in Stormblood. I appreciate the 50% off discount.
