Do GM's actually do anything?

In the old days of MMOs, reputation mattered. I guess nowadays with world visits and the like, it's easier to do things like this.

I would blacklist the person, and encourage others (who are upset by this person) to do the same. If no one can see their chat, they become invisible.

Not sure if it is the best idea to publicly encourage blacklisting someone. Something tells me that in itself could be reported as harassment.

If there are no names given (there hasn't been) then it is not harassment. It is simply one person giving advice to another in order to "solve" an issue. Even if multiple people know who it is, as long as they aren't named and shamed there has been no breach of the ToS.

Well, that's why I included "who are upset by this person" - so if offered in that light, I don't think it would qualify as harassment. Telling a player they can report and blacklist just means they can move on and continue playing.

So I'm just gonna assume it's not possible to blacklist anyone in the instance. When making the report, I would strongly urge to include that so the GMs can forward this tothe devs and they, in turn, can implement the feature.

Its not that the GMs DON'T do anything. Its just that they CAN'T do anything. The duties of the GM team are very cut-and-dry. Whenever any issue arises they have to look at it from both sides with no bias. In this case it more than likely does fall under greifing, but you can simply blacklist the player and the problem is solved, so unless the player is question is actively using offensive language and calling people out specifically, the hands of the GMs are tied to all the server transfers from the Data Center Split.

The position the GMs are in is not an easy one. I'm sure there have been plenty of reports they've wanted to take action on but couldn't. They also can't disclose any action they take due to confidentiality clauses.

So I'm sorry that this player is causing such a fuss, but because the issue is so easily fixed via the blacklist and the content of the flooding isn't much more than unwanted chit-chat I doubt the GMs will take much of any action unless the issue escalates. If you have any further questions about how the GM team has to handle things I would advise you to reach out and talk to one if you get the chance.

They're too busy playing timeout mom to do much else visibly. They're certainly out there, though.

I'm more interested in what these people are spamming that's so legendary that 20 people have reported them, rather than just blacklisting them and moving on.
