I always comm the other dps unless they are just bad.

smns who don't dot or bane, brds who don't use songs, ice mages or mages that have no concept of their rotation after about lvl 50, mnks/drgs who still single target on humungous pack pulls, nins with no ninjustsu or the dps who spend half their time in auto-attack only mode, yeah I see you lol. Sometimes its obvious as well when a tank or healer is duoboxing, no ones getting a comm then.

I have a few conditions for comms.

    Do they say hello?
    Are they friendly?
Are they doing a good job?

I usually try to give a comm to a dps over a healer or tank just because I know they get them much more rarely, but if the dps doesn't check any of those and a tank or healer does, the tank or heal will get it.

Most of mine go to healer or tank unless I notice they are screwing up bad or just pissing me off.

I tend to notice Dragoons I don't have to heal a lot, and tend to give them the most commendations out of all the DPS I see. Especially when I notice they're getting the rotation right.

If the healer or tank are pissing me off but the DPS did fine, they get a commend.

I don't really give my comms based on job role. Maybe when I tank, since I put a lot of pressure on my healers I do tend to give it to them. It typically goes to whoever is not a robot in there. If you don't say hi at the beginning of the instance, you're pretty much eliminated for consideration right then and there. That's not to be an ass or anything, it just makes it easier for me to choose because most of time players do what they're supposed to do in dungeons.

I admittedly give a lot of pity comms though, especially in content where you are expected to fail mechanics if it's your first go. I just can't help but feel bad for the player that is really trying, but still gets one-shotted by something.

In short, my comm goes to the player I feel is the nicest one in the group.

I usually find that it goes most often to healers, then tanks, then dps.

I’m often surprised when I get a comm as dps, I figure it’s probably my glamour. :P

I generally commend someone at random, unless someone REALLY stood out. Like, if I do a raid or trial and we almost wipe but a healer survives to lb 3, they're getting my comm. If the party almost wipes but somebody solos the last few % of the boss and gets us a clear, they get my com. If there's a newbie int he party and someone is very helpful explaining things, I'll give htem the comm.

But it's ultimately rare for me that anyone stands out in a good way because when things are running smoothly I tend not to atribute it to one specific person, where as it's easier to pick out someone that's playing poorly like a dps that refuses to aoe etc.

It all depends on performance. If the other dps damage seems rather low i will not commend, or if the group in general is bad none get any.
Lately it has mostly been healers and tank i give them to except for the healers that die and dps more then heal... which i end up raising anyhow on my Red and i get no comms, lol

My priorities are generally based on encouraging behavior I want to see continue, this favors support roles first.

Number one - is the healer going to town with dps especially in AoE situations and healing primarily via oGCDs and regens? They'll get my comm.

If they aren't/ if I'm the healer - is the tank pulling big, using his CDs smartly and primarily in his dps stance on bosses? He's getting commed.

If neither of these are happening or if I'm queued as one support role and with the person in the other I'll generally give it to the dps that is properly AoEing. The only dungeons I tend to do anymore are Expert, if by then you can't manage to outdps a healer something is wrong.

I'll generally commend anyone who has been nice and polite, anyone who owns up to screwing up and helpful people. I also reserve a spot for sprouts or anyone else who announces they are new to the content, because it really makes all the difference. I also like people who ask for help and try their best, so will commend them if it works out that way.

After that, I'll specifically commend DPS if things are dying in a timely manner, and if, in the case of bards, they use support skills, or just make me think about how I play my main.

Any healer that repeatedly saves my backside from the stupid bad day I'm having has my comm and undying loyalty forever. They should and could just keep their MP, but if they are on top of things they have my vote! <3 Also healers who handle stupid from others well.

I've stopped commending tanks recently as they don't live up to my hubby (but I am biased). Frankly, I'd probably just keep giving him comms over anyone else, so it's a good thing the system has that restriction in place. That said, if a tank does an outstanding job and actually considers its team well, they could get a comm.

After that, it could be anything from amusing-yet-daft names to smexy male au ra. I'm easy.

I will say when playing with either my kid or hubby, we tend to discuss who gets the comm and split our vote if it all went well. When all three of us play together if the fourth person does well or keeps us happy, they'll walk away with three comms.

Lastly, and though this is mostly in trials but can also be dungeons, it'll just be whoever's left standing and meets any of the above criteria.
