Although I'm not a DPS main. A dungeon run that takes 13 minutes or less is an automatic comm to the DPS.
Might still comm someone for various other reasons, but that basically guarantees it.

I comm DPS if the other dps doing their job properly, simple because they might be the most play role, yet, they are the most under appreciated roleI've seen posts in Reddit an these forums of DPS players claiming they would usually or always commend the other dps. However, when I tank or heal, I usually get more than one commendation. So that leaves one dps without a commendation, especially during times when all party members have contributed to exceptionally wonderful dungeon/trial runs.
So I present this question to you, especially DPS mains:
What conditions would you normally commend other DPS players after you clear the instance?
recent experience:
my RDM got O1N from raid roulette, half the teams are first timer, one of them is a SCH, dying to almost everysingle AOE, I personally res her 4 times, give other heal mana shift a lot of times, help healing when that SCH just got res by me and recovering SP. I dodge everysingle possible AOE, use diversion before my burst. Pop Addle and Embolden, not a single comm after the fight. I dont even want to mention my NIN where I keep Goad, Smoke screen and shadewalker pop at the right time yet still no appreciation.
Switch to my WAR and got through into a Trial I dont remember and got hit by a few avoidable AOE, standard rotation and cool down, easily 3 comms. I can get more comm with half a brain as tank than doing 120% effort in my DPS. This is what happen in most of the DF run

Welcome to the world of dps players. Tanks get commendations thrown at, i know that because i was a tank main player, just because they are tanks. Dps players can carry the whole party, like you described or with a extrem high dps performance compared to the rest of the party, and don't get anything. Thats just how it goes here with some exceptions.I comm DPS if the other dps doing their job properly, simple because they might be the most play role, yet, they are the most under appreciated role

I commend dps if they do a good job.
For example if i am playing healer and the caster mana shifts me multiple times. That automatically gets my commendation because almost no dps does it.
Also when i see dps using goad or bard/mch using refresh.

Depends on the content, tbh. When doing 70 roulettes, I'm more partial to commend dps if they do a good job. Extra stuff gets my notice like mage/range using lb on a large trash pack, melee using goad or plenty of aoe, etc.
In 50/60 roulette and lvling, I more partial to commend tanks/heals
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
As a RDM main, except rare cases like someone bothering to explain strats to others, i usually command like this :
1 : did the tank mass pull and was i able to dps all i want without him losing the aggro ? If yes he get my commandation, otherwise go to 2.
2 : did i use Vercure on me too much because the healer can't heal properly ? If no he get my commandation, otherwise go to 3.
3 : did the other dps seems like he was hitting stuff and did he not die too often because of his own mistakes ? If yes he get my commandation, otherwise nobody get it while i quickly flee out of what was probably a "omg please get me out of here" run XD
So in the end if you are a dps, i am not sure that you want a commandation from me, because it requires to have a bad time dealing with non-reliables tank and healer.

I'll commend people I think deserve it regardless of class. The tank did real well managing their cool downs? Comm. The healer saved the party with quick thinking or kept another member with a constant desire to eat AOE's alive? Comm. A DPS player clearly knows their rotation and is putting everything they have into it? Instant comm. Though when it comes to DPS I'll also instantly comm any SMN/RDM that shares rez duties and or mana shifts me as the healers; and any aiming class that actually uses tactician/refresh/peloton gets it as well.
I give my commendation to whoever I feel like deserves it class/role doesn’t matter. Sometimes it’s for playing perfectly and sometimes it’s because the person was absolutely a joy personality wise to group with because the party had fun and just enjoyed ourselves. If a new player comes in and does a valiant effort I commend them as well regardless of whether they were perfect or not. Now if you exhibit poor behavior you get squat. If you can’t even do a basic rotation you get nothing. If you ask for a comm you get nothing. Ultimately this is a game And supposed to be fun. Help me achieve that and you are in the running to get a comm. There are times I wish we could give out more than one.

I always commend the DPS if they do at least one of this:
- use enmity control skills (diversion, lucid, ecc)
- use their support skills (mana shift, goad, ecc)
- use a smart lb (ex. aoe limit on a very large pull)
... which sadly means I commend the tank or healer 99% of the time
Who's dreaming?
If the tank and healer didn't earn it. If the tank is pulling everything and is doing proper rotations while in DPS stance on bosses while maintaining aggro, or if the healer is a green DPS, it can't go to DPS as the other two are performing their roles and dealing high damage while on roles that help with queues.
Pretty much this. In a game where everyone's expected to contribute DPS, it's hard to ever com a dps for doing doing their job when the tanks and healers do their job plus dps.
