if it makes you feel any better, my real house got hit by a tornado the day after my first chemo, while I was house hunting in game.
NOW I LIVE IN A HOTEL FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS WHILE USING SNAIL HOTEL INTERNET, BEING SICK, AND NOT EVEN THE COMFORT OF OWNING A GAME HOME.

That sucks and I hope your IRL stuff gets sorted. Here's a possible solution for your in game housing problem. It looks like you're on Crystal datacenter, there were hundreds of available houses on Goblin & Brynhildr when I was on my alt. I eventually moved that toon before the free server transfers ended, but I believe Goblin still has plenty. There were mediums back then as well, even in Shirogane. You can check the housing situation on the other centers through world visit system. You don't have to click spam placards, and you can still go back and play on Mateus as wanderer while having a house in game.

Not saying names but I know a few FCs that own multiple homes I’m talking like the 1/2 fcs like not actual FCs.

OP, I think your best chance of getting a house right now without click spamming placards is by moving to another datacenter. Aether and Primal have consistently been full and low on housing compared to Crystal. I have a toon on Gilgamesh & on Famfrit and I check housing as I log on, even Famfrit which is a preferred world has had 1-3 vacancies only and they do get camped. I only got a house because the person camping with me quit and went to sleep. The housing system really is a mess. The RNG with placards, the relocation sales so you can get specific plots, and the system for FC housing where people just buy multiple FCs all have to be addressed. Solutions other than instanced housing would be:
1. Improve already existing apartment system - include a balcony for garden plots and it's basically the same functionality as a small house
2. Disable relocation or change the way relocation works so people don't use it for malicious purposes to reset timers or for "sale" on Reddit / discord / outside of the game
3. Limit FC housing ownership to 1 per account like personal housing. Take away houses from people who are using loopholes to acquire 2 or more houses.

This is not how housing should work.

Yeah, I remember in Gilgamesh 30 people would camp one spot then somebody decides to just relocate and people had to go find the new house plot. I made friends with campers before I left the server, and only 1 out of the many people I met got lucky enough with the RNG. It's so many people wanting houses on Aether and Primal.

I hope SE looks into the housing aspect of the game once Shadow Bringers has settled down.

Seeing sprouts whether alts or truly new players, strengthens my stand on requesting/lobbying for a form of an improved apartment system, with a bigger floor area possibly as wide as the 1st floor of a large estate (if its really not possible to have progressive upgrade options for apartments), with an instanced balcony that allows gardening. So that new players can have some form of private housing, that is a little on par with that of plotted houses. Untill such time that they have that rare opportunity to own a plotted house.

(If SE stands by their decision to maintain the housing districts as a form of rare commodity.)

Anyone know the exact demo date for housing? Seems available plots have dried up but there should be a lot going demo when that date hits. I believe I read the 7th but am not sure.

Thinks it's the 6th that we'll see the demos happen but a lot of those plots won't be available for new purchase until the 7th because of the timer. But certainly by the 7th.

I don't know why the developers are more concerned about creating "desolate" areas, by adding more housing wards. They should be more concerned with a "normal" population server, still a month out from release of 5.0, that only has one housing plot available.

Problem is, people stop complaining about the horrible system, the moment they get lucky and get a plot. I'll probably do the same. But the problem remains.

Tomorrow (6th) or the next day (7th) there will be a ton of houses opening up. Will it be enough no but it will certainly be the start of demolition of unused homes on a regular basis. SE would do the community a favor if it stopped the needless stopping of the timer to satify the perceived needs of a few suffering from natural disasters while hurting the community at large. The past stoppage was above and beyond anything reasonable in my opinion and has hurt those looking for housing big time.
