To be fair, if you want to buy a story skip just because you are afraid of entering in a dungeon, that's sort of giving up already. The skip will probably be here alongside with Shadow Bringers but the skip won't solve your problem. Only you can solve it.

There's plenty of options for you if you're feeling anxiety about being the new guy in dungeons. Have you tried asking friends or your FC to run through with you? Another alternative is setup a PF letting others know its your first time in said dungeon.

If you want to take it a step further there's also online guides for bosses mechanics. Most people in-game are generally willing to help or give advice if asked.

Buying a story skip potion doesn't solve anything considering in Shadow Bringers you'll be new to dungeons anyways. Honestly the best advice is to just try it and if you still have that same feeling, try playing another role.

I'm confused. If you're uncomfortable tanking new duties but don't want to play another job, what do you do in the game?

You will be new to dungeons in Shadowbringers too. If you queue for roulettes after you buy your way to Shadowbringers you might get put into those dungeons you don't know anyway. Do you avoid all duties you're new to? How do you do the main scenario quests, and how do you progress through the game? Are you going to wait another two years for a Shadowbringer's skip?

We've literally all been new to these dungeons at some point, and most of us played them after day one. I'm confused as to how that makes a difference. Please explain that one to me.

All you have to do is go in and spam your aoe aggro. Dungeons are much easier than you're making them out to be. One button generally works for everything, and they are not mechanically intensive. They're inherently designed to be as easy as possible for the weakest of players.

However, you're most definitely giving up by using the potion in this way. That's most definitely the case. How is it not? If you find tanking to be too stressful, maybe the role isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that.

Gotta say that if your go to issue with tanking is peoples attitudes, look at your own first. If this thread is anything to consider, its more likely people are reacting to you than throwing shade right out the gate. Cause man, youre coming off like a bit of a butt in your responses here when people are trying to be nice and genuine to you.

That being said, you probably should jump into those dungeons and try and work through em. As people have pointed out, youre not going to really save yourself anything by skipping over SB. Just enjoy the ride for what it is, and if people give you flak, just tell em your new to it and ignore anyone who does end up being an ass. Dont run from challenges. Face em and learn to adapt. Just good thing to do no matter the endeavor.

Now, I've been trying to figure out what you are enjoying then and what makes you think that skipping Stormblood will make the hame more enjoyable to you again? I'm honestly curious, because I always had a slight understanding for people who arent fond of dungeons but would like to see the story of the game - but if you want to skip that, that cant be what you enjoy?

Besides crafting and gathering - what really is there in this game in the long run if not participating in some form of instances content? And why is someone who doesnt enjoy that kind of content playing this game?
I just cant make sense of it...

Honetsly, if tanking isnt fun to you: Get over your missguided "pride" and pick a role that you'll enjoy playing. Skipping Stormblood wont help, there are going to be new dungeons in Shadowbringers aswell, endgame will involve instanced content in any case - all you're going to do by skipping Stormblood is losing out on the story.

Before you enter any level 70 dungeon though: Get proper right side gear, okay? ilvl260 isnt appropriate at level 70 anymore...

Picking a class you enjoy playing isnt giving up - its making the most out of an entertainment product that you pay good money for! In my experience as a tank the community is quite nice though, specially if you let them know that its your first time and that you're open for advice. But I understand that tanking can be stressful and a game shouldnt be that - instead of running away from that by skipping over the problem until you encounter it again at somepoint, why not solve it by switching jobs?
Honestly, skipping will make matters worse for you in Shadowbringers since you'll lack the experience of playing the tank of your choice appropriatly and afaik people have less patience with "skippers" than with someone whos genuily new and/or inexperienced. If you use a jump-potion you better make sure you compensate that lack of tanking experience if you want to continue playing a tank.
