Companion App/Why only one character?

I was curious as to why we are limited to using one character with the companion app or why we can't change the selected character at a later date?

I know, seems weird. But if you have a second device you can link a second character that way. Or if you delete the app and redownload it it’ll ask you to choose a character to link again. So obviously the process is not actually permanent like they claim, and I’m not sure why they don’t just allow swapping characters on the fly since it is clearly possibly to switch characters.

This is one of a thousand problems I have with the poorly designed, minimally functional, microtransaction-riddled app. It needs a revamp that's not so... archaic.

Right now, I found a new use for it: notification for FFXIV news updates.

They did say they were going to add an option to change character (without reinstalling) "later"...

Yes, it can now notify you of FFXIV news. There are also other updates, but they're not relevant to me, so I don't remember them, probably more minor.
