Cross World Visitation is Hurting Hunts

Hello, this is my first thread on the OF, so hopefully I can write this concisely.

To get to the point, I am quite angry that Wanderers can go to other servers and partake in hunts. I will not name names, but there is a specific Balmung-er who instantly pulls all Hunts, and he is now on my server and instantly pulling things.

My home server of Coeurl has always had a really nice hunt train. Everyone waits patiently, for minutes even, for A ranks and S ranks alike. I've always really liked that about Coeurl.

My proposition is that Wanderers should not be allowed to earn seals from other server's hunts. Things die quickly enough as it is, I do not think they should be allowed to burn down a server's hunt even faster.

EDIT: An idea that I have is that, similar to the Notorious Monsters of Eureka, Hunt mobs should increase their HP depending on how many people are in the zone. That way, things can't be killed as quickly.

And what if they're on your server? Tough luck?

That's... not an issue with World Visit specifically, though. You happened to get lucky that there don't seem to be many prominent early pullers on Coeurl like what Balmung has but it's a problem caused by the way hunts are inherently designed/implemented in the game. I know who you're talking about and trust me, ask any Balmung hunter and they might recognize me as the player who complains about the person in question at every possible opportunity. Ultimately, the problem is nearly negligible if you're an attentive hunter and are willing to hunt off your own world, as well. I'm not saying it's not a legitimate grievance but if one of those people happened to play on Coeurl before WV was implemented, you'd have just had to deal with it. It's the same thing here, just the the player pool is limited by Data Center rather than server, now.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying that it is tough luck for the Wanderer? If so, yes, it would be to dissuade them from doing other server's hunts.

Maybe that is my fault though. I do think it is unfortunate that Balmung had to deal with this individual solely prior to WV, but the fact that they can go to any other server they want now is quite awful.

I'm fairly certain they meant that... if this individual was to transfer to Coeurl permanently, not factoring in world visit, it'd be tough luck and you'd just have to deal with it. Unfortunately.

Therefore the problem isn't inherently with world visit.

As someone who has gotten something like 20-30 S marks since WV opened, I can promise you it is if you find your way into one of the Hunt CWLSs. You won't get every mark that ever gets called but a good majority of hunters wait. The sheer number is enough pressure to keep some people from pulling early.

That's fair. However, you've been given the tools to at least mitigate the effects of wanderers' disruptive behaviors in the form of being just as capable of making it to hunts as they are. Teleport to Limsa/Gridania/Ul'Dah, go to the world, and navigate to the flag. It's a bit stressful at first but if you need to hit a specific mark you'll make it.

I think this person is making the point I made in my first reply. At the end of the day, this isn't a problem directly caused by WV, it's just a consequence. Had someone like Balmung's puller decided to transfer to Coeurl two weeks ago and went about their business, you would have been facing the exact same problem. It's an issue with player mentality and the fact that the pace of The Hunt is as snappy as whoever goes the fastest, no matter what. Not a WV problem.

Honestly Hunts just need a reformulation in general.

Agreed. They shouldn't be able to participate in hunts.

I was thinking that perhaps a Hunt's HP could scale to the number of players in a zone as a way to mitigate how fast they're burned down. Kind of like Eureka's NMs.

Not sure how much it would help, but it could be useful.

I do agree though that there is probably something better they could do to handle it.

Maybe this will be an unpopular opinion but I'm really enjoying cross world hunts. Yeah, you lose some, especially with a queue to get to the server and there's always a few jerks. But overall I'm having fun jumping through worlds to help spawn and participate.

It seems today has been particularly bad but I assume its because peak American Saturday.
