Question about the most efficient way to increase ivll

    Hey,

I finally hit level 70 and im trying to gear myself up as efficiently as possible so I can get access to higher tier content. I have been doing the various dutys to obtain genesis and mendacity tomestones.

So far ive been replacing my jewellery as its the cheapest item at 375 tomestones. Now im looking at starting on armour with boots at 475 tomestones.

Today I had a thought though. Am I doing the right thing? Would it have been better to start with the higher cost items as they might have a higher stat weighting towards ilvl?

    Thanks

Each of your equipped items contribute equally to your average ilvl, so improving your accessories is generally the cheapest way if you are only interesed in increasing your ilvl - and assuming all your gear had the same ilvl at start.

The left-side gear is however the one contributing most to your actual combat ability, with your weapon the most important part, followed by chest and leg items.

Probably a bit too late for you now, but remember that you can use Centurio Clan seals to buy i330 gear and upgrade it to i340. If you have been doing hunts in advance you can thus easily get i340 gear the very moment you reach level 70 which should open up much of the level 70 content.

For items that take up more than one gear slot, they are counted by the number of slots they take up. For most jobs, this means that the weapon (taking both the main hand and offhand slots) contributes the most to avg ilvl. For Paladins, we equip gear to every slot, since sword and shield are separate.

Otherwise, as MistakeNot said, if you can't get the weapon, focus on getting the chest and leg pieces first, then the head, gloves, and shoe pieces, then the belt, and THEN the accessories.

Of course, this does not matter as much now, regardless of what content you are seeking to play, since we are at the end of the expansion. The gear treadmill has stopped, and there are plenty of gearing up options available.

Thanks to you both now I understand. While the boots would give me a faster ilvl boost my actual combat effectiveness would be lower. I went for the chest. The dungeons can wait a bit longer.

I also bought myself a rakshasha sword as most of the other weapons require raiding or extreme trials. Along with my scaeven shield I have very good weapons.
