Unfortunately, I believe Yoshi-P has stated in recent interviews that there are currently no plans on non-canon trust members, simply because the time needed to make all of the 'in-character' things they would do would be a bit too much to desigin for every trust-available dungeon.

But that doesn't mean we won't be able to pair up with other trusts for future MSQ dungeons.

To be honest, and obviously just my personal opinion, but I don't see a point to it if it can't be be done retroactively, most people will be drawn to this game thinking "great, a trust system where you can solo the main story!" SE: not until your level 70+! *trollface*.

I personally would be fine with it, if they'd just extend the Squadron and make them available for all current content Duties. The Trust System seems pretty cool, but also seems like it took quite a bit of work, since characters have voiced lines and interact with each other.

You're right it does, I didn't realise it was fully voiced, shows how little I know In that case, that would be a buttload of work to update everything, squadron would be much better for all content, I have to agree

The other problem with older content is if they want to keep it story-linked. Up to this point, any time you're actively working with the Scions and need to do a dungeon, they all have some specific excuse as to why they aren't the ones coming with you - they're with the second party taking a different route, or causing a diversion while you make your way into the enemy base, or you're the diversion while they rescue the prisoners... leaving you to lead your "hand-picked team of elite adventurers" or whatever they want to call them this time.

Old expansion dungeons can be solo'd if you get to max level and purchase crafted gear. It's unlikely a new player has the experience necessary to do this though, so squadrons may work better.

In 5.0, we'll have access to the trusts that are present with us outside the dungeon. New ones may be added if they are with us in-story at the time the dungeon is unlocked.

while Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG, there are a huge variety of people who play it. Some enjoy battles and raids; others spend hours posing their characters for the perfect screenshot. Some just enjoy sitting around chatting with their friends. Because Final Fantasy XIV is a story-driven game, there may be some players who want to immerse themselves further and take their time working through content, but that becomes difficult when you’re working on other people’s schedules. I want to break the preconceived notion that you have to party up to experience the story simply because this is an MMORPG. Even if every single player utilized the Trust system, hypothetically speaking, that still wouldn’t be detrimental to Final Fantasy XIV because players are still sharing an online environment and participating in the social aspects that come with it regardless.
As the interview says, a lot of people don't care about their skill and just want to play for the story. They want to play an MMO for the out-of-dungeon social elements, not the in-dungeon social elements.

Trust dungeons will take longer than when players do them to make it undesirable for farming. The benefit of their slow pace is being able to soak up the story and the dungeon a lot better than you can while rushing through a dungeon. There is such a pressure to keep moving with other players because any of those players might not want you to stop and /lookout all the time.

I'm more worried about instance servers during the first days of the expansion. Doing the first run with trust for extra dialogues and a better immersion is very appealing (plus no queue time if you are a DPS).

That reminded me of a few bits of information that I've read over the years regarding Trusts or some such in FFXIV which would allow players to experience much of the game solo. Is this accurate? As a solo-first player who actually loved the world and story of FFXIV, I would really enjoy being able to experience dungeons on my own and play through the entire story without the need of feeling rushed or pressured by other players.

Perhaps I misread past articles and am completely off-base on Trusts or plans to implement such a feature. Any helpful links or info would be appreciated.
But you would loose that fun of the game I won't use it for a simple reason what's funny is to learn the recent content with other players even if we fail all for the 1st time it is not something that important or a stress source.
You can fail in game and the good thing is that you won't lose your character items and still be able to re spawn, in dungeons or raids you won't even lose lvls.
It's not the end of the world if you fail recent content for the 1st time.

The instance servers will crash if everyone tries to use trusts on the first dungeon. Unless xp gains are small and it takes a good few hours to get to lvl 73.

Honestly, systems like this work best for running previous stuff that isn't popular anymore like Coil, MSQ, older Trails, etc....
