I just got a small house on Mateus after barely sleeping since 4.57 patch day. I would just like to say everyone that is still on their journey towards getting one, that its possible. It didnt feel like it at all and I started losing faith. I was about to walk away and go get some sleep, I couldnt keep my eyes open for much longer and my hand was staring to feel completely numb from endless clicking, when it popped for me. I have seen so many houses taken right in front of my eyes by those lucky few that just walked up to it and got the one lucky click in. It was so disheartening. I know the timer is random, but if this helps anybody - in my experience I have seen most houses open up after 8/9-14 hours.

I know there are people that have been waiting way longer than me, but I hope this will inspire at least some of you not to give up. I wish SE would change the way housing works and I hope they do. I wish everyone the best of luck on this difficult and emotionally extremely draining journey.

And this my friends is exactly why the current system needs to go, in order to get a simple house you had to stay put on the same spot, doing the same thing over and over with no pause, losing psychal integrity, losing sleep and not playing the game, just there, hours.....clicking a placard....and you can lose it at any moment and those 10-15h could be lost in a snap.
This is not healthy in any way, SE want so hard to get the game free of player toxicity and then create one of the most toxic systems to a player health.

It's much worse. It's not as though when you're grinding relics or long term achievements you risk losing all progress by taking a bathroom break or sleeping.

It's more akin to a 1-24hr extreme trial where one AoE wipes the party and there is no telegraph for it.

Congrats to OP on getting in. A couple of FC friends and I have been taking turns spamming (almost non-stop) since the patch, on over 10 plots, and still nothing...

@OrangeManBad Thank you. I agree with you 100%, it happened to me on more than one ocassion that I stepped away just for couple minutes and the plot was gone. I truly hope you get your house, I was so close to giving up, now I m glad I didnt.

@IkaraGreydancer Thank you. Of course there is luck involved, but I dont think I would get the house, if I relied solely on luck. I was checking every ward every couple hours, making spreadsheets to know and remember how long they were up, I would go to each plot and observe people there first, because if you are trying to win over a bot (and there are quite a few of them) the odds are very slim if any. Determination and faith play a major role in my opinion. Sad fact is that we have to do all this, in order to even have a chance of getting a house. It was literally all I was doing, I didnt do any other content. Every waking minute I would stand by a placard and click.

Like OrangeManBad said, those kinds of grinds does not make you destroy your own mental and body health as much as the stress you get with the current house system, you can always stop and do other stuff and your grid would still made some progress to the goal, i'm in the atma step for my Dragoon, i can do the books whereever i want and not in a pre-determined random time with ultra pressure.

Turning a blind eye and saying you see no diference betwin the two types is just apathetic.

Let try this perspective. Imagine relics are limited in number and only so many can drop. The only way to get a relic if that persons upgrade to the next one, leaves the server, or quits the game. essentially that is how housing is right now.
Yes the grind is expected, but at least there is that chance of that relic dropping for everyone because its not restricted bound by a cap. Housing is you essentially have to wait for a plot to become available. Maybe it will balance out maybe it won't. I have a plot but it SE really needs to address the issue of housing. Other MMOs may not be perfect but at least people have the ability to have a player house of some sort be it an instance like FFXI was, EQ2.

Gratz to you OP, but having faith in getting a house has only driven me to break my controller.
Having faith or determination is something im hearing alot from people who already have a house.
This has nothing to do with any of those. Its about luck

I get where youre coming from OP. Im just saying that at the end of the day determination and faith all nullify becuase you still have to be lucky enough to click/press at the correct time (whenever that is). Does being proactive increase those odds? Oh yeah definitely. But it can also make you feel even worse if it doesn't pay off. (Ive never broken a controller in my life until yesterday)
I was searching every open plot in all of the wards for a while. Leaving plots when I see bots and such. My biggest gripe is standing at an empty plot (or plot where everyone is afk) for hrs and it still not open for purchase. House hunting even in short increments (1-4 hrs) is really detrimental to your mental health.
Id do every relic weapon before I waste 1 more second at a placecard because at least with relics ik theres a reward at the end for my time.
