    Random Disconnects - Need help

    Good Morning/Evening.

Name is Qiro, I play on Primal -> Behemoth.

Over the a weak or so I have been experiencing random disconnects from the game.(90002 or 90006) Not located to any one time... At the FC house, in a duty, etc.

    I play on PC.
I have updated firmware and drivers on router and USB network adapter.
I have checked start up applications.
I have run FFXIV in admin mode.
I have used "CMD" to flushdns and renew
I only have discord open with FFXIV

So i investigated if the issue was WAN or LAN.
I did two ping tests, at the same time, during my time playing. Hoping to catch some kind of proof of it happening.

First Ping Test is to my router (192.168.1.1)

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 25ms, Average = 1ms

Second Ping Test is to just anything outside of my network. (i believe google.com in this example)

Its at this moment that I was Disconnected from FFXIV.

I dont think there is any problem with my network, as I have no packet loss.
I really dont know much about networking. I was hoping someone could explain why this is happening with some possible fixes.

    Thank you!

Just a "me too" post here:

I'm on the new Crystal Datacenter.
Have gone from almost never receiving these 90k errors when Bryn was in its old DataCenter to having them several times an hour.

I'm having a very similar issue myself. I keep going into content and where I would never normally have latency issues my game is going crazy. 2-3 disconnects per dungeon. Just got out of a ranked Feast Match where I disconnected 2 times during the match. Was lucky enough that it didn't effect our match too much :P

Those time outs are a problem and its coming from your ISP. Your internal looks fine but tbh would need a lot more inspection to be sure.

The ping and loss only tell a very small part of the story.
In order to help you Im going to have to assume and rule out any and all problems possible with A and B and the below advice. (I work for apple and have had to fix things like this for 2 decades, 1 of those decades it was specifically done FOR gamers elsewhere, and myself of course, so not to knock down the SE mods here but, they wont be able to suggest to you what you most likely need due to policy)
Flushing and dns changes and what not are dated techniques that dont work this day and age 99% of the time. So if someone suggests that to you, even tech support, just know theyre not up to speed in 2019 and i would ignore the advice from that person.

I know this is a long post, but if you really want this fixed, i highly advise you read every word of the below because understanding it all is very important. This is much more then “just” a get a new router, and contact ISP post. While it will seem that way at first. In fact Im saying the opposite, do not trust the isp or even yourself.

14 basically has like zero tolerence for timing out even for a second, if your connection does it even just once for 0.2 seconds, something you wont even notice while watching netflix for example, thats it, youre gone.

Its heavily more apparent if you try to play a FL match, although thats typically a bad router more often then not.

Still, the game would benefit from having a countdown lag timer, instead of outright dropping you for your ISP connection failing for a mere milisecond.

When crap like this happens your best option is to get a real router, even gigabyte fiber routers have been seen to do a piss poor job at keeping you online in 14 because the games netcode basically expects you to be hard wired directly into “their” servers or get kicked out.

I would A) recommend the Nighthawk AR 500, have had ZERO gaming drops for half a year using it, not in pvp, not in any other fps game either which is unheard of, and hands down destroys any other home professional 3rd party router ive ever owned, and ive had a lot of them.
(Honestly when my ISP came out with 9 dudes and 3 vans, and saw I had this they were quite impressed and knew I wasnt messing around lol)
The connection stability is the main focus with this router, the fact that it will also punish and push its wifi signal through a 10 ton steel wall over both 5 and 2.4 mhz, while also maintaining full advertised ISP speed on 5ghz is just a bonus.

    B) If your ISP keeps claiming they cant find the issue and keep blaming your own equipment, goto the FTC and or the FCC website, and file a web form complaint against your ISP. Ive honestly had some people skip the ISP altogether and go right to the FTC form because lets be honest, your ISP is not going to fix a neighborhood wide issue that only 1 gamer or 2 are noticing without the FTC stepping in.
And yes, connection drops even only us gamers see, and even if in only “some” games occuring is a valid issue the fcc will take care of for you against the ISP.

Just because other devices at home “work fine” doesnt mean its not and still highly likely the router, or the isp. And in most cases both.

Id also like to reiterate that if “both” A and B above taken care of, most devices in your home will run just as good as if they were all wired directly to a beastly network setup, even, over WiFi. (A very difficult thing to accomplish)

The FCC or FTC will charge your ISP a fine for each DAY your complaint exists. Watch how fast a team of 4 vans with 6-12 guys show up on your street trying to fix the problem asap.

Be as descriptive as possible when filling out the form of the behavior, every detail.
(Maybe toss in that you insist theres a decible issue down the road from your house, not “in” or around your house, even if youre not sure what that means, it will catch their eye so just trust me on that one)

If all they do is replace your house line with a brand new orange fiber cable, while this is a very nice and free upgrade,, huzzah, it wont fix it. So dont fall for that. But by all means still let them do it.

And finally, NEVER ever, take a “combo” modem router from any ISP, ive reviewed every single one of them, personally. To this day not even one exists that is up to gaming performance specs, especially if you play FPS.
Their modems are fine, but never take their routers either. Pure garbage.
If the AR 500 is out of your price range, check out a few gaming top 5 routers lists, shockingly, most of those are accurate. However, avoid any and all ASUS brand routers.

My PC is decked out with ASUS parts but their routers are over priced and have nonsense handling for internet tasks. They all also drop randomly, which is a major no no for gamers.

If anyone finds this post helpful, feel free to copy paste it elsewhere, I dont need credit or anything else, this should be shared as common knowledge these days.
