add Random stat rolls to in game drops

But, wait... you'll need a healer if you want to successfully tank groups of mobs, even in the over world it can be troublesome. Then TP is so finite so you can only AOE but so much, will the mobs die in time? Who knows! just kill for loot!
Okay I guess it's time to farm rarer mobs right? Well, you'll be waiting for hunts and fates as those are only overworld minibosses that exist, and there's already a precedent set for rare loot drops from fates, the cassie earrings if they do drop will only go to maybe one or two people at most. But perhaps the devs would be kind and give loot from all fates to everyone like novelty loot from them?
Wellp, now you've finally farmed all those and you have some gear with great stats to finally tackle extremes and savages, but item level is still the baseline number for getting into dungeons so you could have a tank with full piety gear, a red mage with full casting speed, or a healer in full vitality, just using the gear because they got tired of grinding out random rolls and just using things to get the item level.
So now dungeons will be slower and extremes and savages will be impossible, toxicity will run rampant as people get pretty rightfully upset that other people didn't give a crap about stats but still decided to try and join high level parties. Kicks in dungeons will become a much more normal occurrence as people can easily inspect you for terrible stats. Life becomes even more hell in the world of FFXIV. Yoshi-p cries, a lot.
You see, you can't just pick up a random stat system and slap it onto any game and instantly make it better, the game has to be designed with the system in mind. The Diablo games were built on a high gear acquisition rate and having gear with effects and stats that interact with your characters abilities in powerful ways. Just about every looter based game that's fun has been built around the idea of constantly rolling the dice at a faster and faster pace as you become stronger and stronger. The entire foundation of FFXIV would have to be changed if you wanted to put in a random stat system that's both fun and rewarding, so much would have to change that you'd be better off just making a whole new game at that point.
Blizzard tried to modify WoW to fit into this looter kill fest game and they've paid for it pretty hard, the game was never meant to be in the state it's in now and it shows just how disconnected the devs are from the playerbase as they continue to just double down on it.
The structured feeling of past WoW and current FFXIV might be boring to some people, and that's fine, it's not for everyone. But you cannot take a game built on structured advancement and try to retrofit it to be a loot fest, it just doesn't work.
