The issue with consolidation of gear... Is that it's already a pain in the butt to gear jobs already with the current gear types.

Mostly because everything is unique for some reason.

Meaning that if I say, wanted to gear up and meld for my Warrior, who loves Crit and Det and hates DH, but then I wanted to also gear up say... Dork Knight, who loves Crit and DH and has a higher breakpoint for SkS... Well, I'm boned. Unless I carry around a bunch of Materia to manually remeld everything each time I wanted to swap between jobs...

Unless I get gear of equivalent ilevel from multiple sources... But then what if I wanted to play Paladin, who has yet another stat priority? What about when Gunbreaker arrives and likely has another stat priority?

Now imagine this, but across all 4 melee jobs. How would you meld anything if you wanted to play multiple jobs?

I'd rather they fix how annoying it is to have consolidated gear first, before they then consolidate stuff more.

Even if I think they're actually planning on doing something like this in the combat systems update (Making left side gear mirror the right side gear groups of Fending/Slaying/Aiming/Casting/Healing by basically merging Striking + Maiming and Scouting + Aiming)

So yeah... Stop making everything bloody Unique so I can get multiple sets to use for multiple jobs gosh darn it!
