How many times can one person get an Ifrit's Cane and no totems? I've got enough DM from this fight to choke a cavalry's worth of horses.

what I am tired of is listening to people thinking there's no content and that being the reason for primals' drop low drop rate.
Well I can imagine that someone with everything at 50, right now, can get bored of the game, but not everyone is there.
I have plenty of thing I would like to do (crafting on top of it all), but am still stuck at 4/7 + 9/10 and keep wasting playtime into ifrit parties, ifrit shouts, ifrit fights, ifrit dreams (yes I dream that fight by now lol)... meanwhile nearly everyone in my LS is at 7/7 and is now onto Moogle fights.... so I cannot even play with them anymore, unless sometimes they feel sorry for me and come over for a couple runs to give me a hand (a totems never drop in such occasions).
So, please, Yoshi, think also of people who didn't start the game from day one and that would like to be done with Ifrit weapons a little quicker in order to enjoy other parts of the game also: crafting, leveling other classes, quests, leves, achievements, exploration, and so on..... on top of that think of people, like me, who have family and children and cannot be online 24/24 7/7 to get every drop, but want to feel accomplished.
Make it 100% drop or make Ifrit not drop duplicates or do anything, but let us see the end of the tunnel lol

You are assuming that everyone considers content as the same thing.
Levelling a class is not content to me, its a means to an end, nor do I consider crafting content as It doesn't interest me other than melding my own items or repairing my own gear again a means to an end.
Content for me is stuff like dungeon and primals of which there is still a lack of, its getting better and sure the dev team can only work as fast as they can work, but IMO there is still a lack of content.
I agree with most of your post regarding drops being too low and convoluted though.
Some games have both tokens and equipment drops though. They need to just make it like every other game, scrap the totem/charm thing and put the weapon into an inventory which members can then distribute it.
They seem to be trying so hard to prevent ninja looting it is screwing over everyone in the end.
Drop rate of the items are fine, just make them distributable.
Yoshi-p has already said he plans to have some kind of need before greed system in 2.0 which will solve the majority of problems.

Probably 200-220 ifrit kills to get 7/7 then another 40-50 kills to give extra totems to others to get bows, so many canes, lances, swords and axes wasted from being duplicate. Luckily only 140-150 moogle kills to get 7/7 and the only duplicates I can think of was like one wand, axe, lance and some bow duplicate drops.
Really don't like this personal loot system, doesn't really even benefit greedy people wanting stuff they can't use, just forces people to kill bosses an unreasonable amount of times. Don't know why totems can be traded but weapons can't, doesn't make sense that you can't give stuff you can't even use to someone else.
Going to be rather annoyed if AF armor drops follow the same system instead of something like darkhold. Just imagine how long it could take to get one complete set of armor with rng.......

I don't see why we can't do away with the direct weapon drop and have it drop a token worth 10 totems instead.

or just make the loot system like everything else in the game, why add this stupid system. Trying to fix what is not broken.

To whom it may concern:
200 Kills for 7/7 ifrit: you're doing it wrong.
<Luck> <You can have this>
I got my first ifrit weapon (blade) on my first kill. Then another weapon 10 kills later, and so on. 1 weapon every 10 kills was my average. I obtained 5 weapons + 10 totems in less than 60 kills, and never once got a duplicate. It took me maybe another 20 or 30 kills to get the one of remaining two weapons i needed due to the fact that I got a duplicate three times. Then, I bought my last weapon with the 10 totems I held on to. Less than 100 kills.
Now, to salt the wounds, i'm going to let you in on the story of my lala ls member who got 4 different ifrit weapons (no duplicates) in 7 kills. Read em and weap. 4 weapons, seven kills, full moon, lalafell. It must be the fact that he is a Lalafell.
I know others have gone 0/200 or something rediculous but I can't help but feel that this was prepatch. Post totem patch I believe they alleviated drop rates slightly so that may be the cause for my case as well as that other lucky lala. On the other hand i know another lala who got 5 or 6 ifrit cudgels... and that just sucks.
On the other hand, I agree that making weapons drop to loot list and passable to other players would be nice, but in the end it might just make it too easy to obtain all 7 weapons. Part, if not all, of the reasoning behind primals, and the rest of any mmo for that matter, is to keep players playing (and paying) for as long as possible. So it is understandable that SE would make it thus.
On the other hand, if there were more end game content such as...7 different primal battles, i'm sure we wouldn't be having this discussion. Players would be out there trying to obtain other items from different end game contents. This would break the monotony of repeating the same fight hundreds of times over and over again and no one would be here complaining about how tedious it is to get all 7 weapons because there would be something else to aim for as soon as you got bored of it.
