That's 56 million gil just set on fire, which is absolutely beautiful if you want gil to become more scarce.

Bringing RMT in it, that's 56 million a player purchased through illegitimate means getting set on fire. RMT deterrent, supply/demand stabilization, and inflation protection all wrapped into one system.

Let's be honest though, a house on Balmung is worth more than 4 million. An auction system could be the healthiest way to resolve the system, without encouraging people to engage in unhealthy camping.
The problem is you're making large amounts of Gil necessary. People will BUY the gil from farmers, facilitating RMT.

Also you're unfairly giving buying power to those who stockpile gil. most players hover at sub medium house price levels of gil on any given character, how would a new player ever hope to compete with someone who's been in game from day one playing the markets?

Not everyone should have a house. Those that stockpile gil should be rewarded, and those that RMT should be banned.

Housing affords SE a fantastic honeypot to lure people into a large purchase that they can track the source of. If it's legitimate, then welcome to your new house. Otherwise, the plot's open again.

At the very least, housing is too cheap with all of the people I see camping at placards. Even if an auction system is not added, the starting prices do need to be raised substantially to discourage this unhealthy camping. Camping which is only as popular as it is because too many people can participate in it.

you can almost guarantee you will win if you are able to bid 100+ mil. Not worthless.

sorry, you won't ever get agreement from me or many others on this.
All aspects of this game should be available to those who wish to experience them, not only those those have hours and hours to invest.
The game is decidedly geared toward being able to pickup and play and put down when bored.

They may win but that would be alot of gil to lose if they decided to want to trade plots or try to sell it (which they can't because it's exclusive to their accounts. . There are plenty of ways to get implement housing in the game, SE just refuses to put effort and resources into it.

It is a sizable chunk of Gil gone.. for most of us. To someone who's been playing the markets for a while it's very much not. There are several players out there who are actually capped in gil.

I personally wonder what SE thought was going to happen with such a limited resource that was highly desirable as well.. but they've put plenty of effort and resources into their decision. The problem isn't that they don't WANT everyone to have housing, it's their current system simply cannot support every player having a house.
Lets not concentrate on the wrong problem: Housing needs a new solution so everyone can participate.
The issue lies in letting everyone have access to the content without punishing those who put so much effort into the current system.

The effort? I mean making gil in this game is easy as sheet! I made an easy 20+ million with little effort and that's with un-capped crafting! Effort is FFXIV 1.0 crafting/gathering where you had to share nodes with others and where crafting failed more than success. The current system is effected by the old system. SE allowed multiple plots to be purchased by a few Dirty Rich players (who are absolutely no fault of this mess)! Again I don't fault those early crafters who made their way through very hard work, but SE is the root cause of this and needs to own up to it. There should be plenty of housing available for everyone, but like RL they should also work for it to and not handed over. Even if it's paying rent for a house to SE each week. I mean yeah my FC has a nice large house, but i want one of my own to have to. Housing is easy in every other MMO but this one!

Oh... you mean effort on the PLAYERS behalf. I get it.

.. sorry. Can't agree there. For most players 20+ million isn't "easy as sheet" and I don't think a house should really require anything more than a certain level of investment in progression. Housing is for everyone, the problem is the scarcity, not the difficulty of acquisition. Crafting/gathering isn't hard work, it's simply time investment for money and lots of players don't have that time to invest.

If it's a blind auction with random 3 buyers then no, How much gil you have will be worthless. Also forgot to add you can only do bids on one property at a time.
